Renal - Senior Staff Nurse in Haemodialysis

Band 6

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Renal Services are recruiting for a haemodialysis senior staff nurse.

The renal unit looks after our local population of renal patients as well as patients from further afield. The ward cares for patients with kidney disease encompassing acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease and renal transplantation. There are 2 haemodialysis units, one of which looks after acutely unwell patients and a home dialysis unit. Our outpatient clinics provide care for patients along their renal pathway.

You will contribute to the provision of excellent patient care and must have experience and up to date knowledge and skills in haemodialysis. You will deputise for the unit manager in their absence and take regular charge of the unit and be able to work within a busy environment. This post will provide opportunities to develop your clinical and managerial knowledge and skills as well as your leadership potential.

Applicants must hold a recognised renal course and mentorship/practice assessor qualification. Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent communication and team work skills.

Main duties of the job

Provide excellent nursing care, utilise specialist knowledge, take charge as required, actively participate, and contribute to management/coordination of the department, support and deputise for the unit manager as necessary, supervise and mentor junior staff. Provide specialist knowledge in renal nursing and haemodialysis replacement therapy; ensure education and training opportunities for patients and staff including pre and post registration students. To support innovation and ensure quality is embedded into daily practice.
