Core Skills
1. Clinical Care and Patient Safety
Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients before, during, and after imaging procedures, including MRI, CT, ultrasound, and interventional radiology.
- Assess, plan, and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Monitor patients for potential complications, including adverse reactions to contrast media and sedation, responding swiftly and appropriately to emergencies.
- Administer medications as required, including sedation, under protocol and ensure accurate documentation.
- Ensure infection control practices and protocols are strictly followed within the department.

Education and qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree/Diploma
- Registered Nurse (Child)
- Evidence of ongoing, continuing professional development within pediatric care linked to demonstrable clinical competences
- Recognised teaching qualification eg ENB998
Desirable criteria
- Post registration qualification in relevant speciality
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven clinical experience in relevant area
- Experience with acutely ill patients
- Ability to utilise pre-registration experience to demonstrate an understanding of the relevant settings
- Evidence of teaching and assessing
- Recent experience caring for children with elevated dependency needs
Desirable criteria
- General management skills
- Recent experience looking after Young People with mental health conditions
Skills and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Proven clinical skills in relevant area
- Demonstrates a genuine interest and has awareness of issues in specialty
- Knowledge of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
- Knowledge of child development
- Awareness of current nursing and NHS issues
- Awareness of current professional issues within children and young people's nursing
- Awareness of child protection issues and pathways
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to communicate with children of all ages and their parents
- Evidence of working cooperatively in a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to form excellent interpersonal relationships
- Ability to make decisions, organise and prioritise
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability and interest in supporting junior colleagues / students
- Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality
- Awareness of NHS reforms and professional issues relating to specialty
- Specialist knowledge in area of specialty
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work full shift pattern including rotation, nights, twilight shifts, weekends & bank holidays as relevant to area
