General Summary:

The Chip Implementation team is looking for an experienced Digital Implementation Engineer to help design, develop and optimise Qualcomm's pioneering range of IoT / Voice and Music products.

As a group we cover the full RTL to GDS flow (synthesis, DFT, place and route, timing closure and physical signoff) and works alongside colleagues in digital design and verification, system design, software, packaging and analogue design. This creates a unique environment where you can learn how each team interacts from initial concept to final production.

Based in our Cambridge office, this role is for an individual who is able to act as a key technical contributor and technical lead. You should have a solid understanding of the different steps needed for digital chip design, the ability to drive technical discussions to closure and experience of leading a team to deliver high quality designs to schedule.

Responsibilities

Significant experience in one or more of:

  • Developing timing or low power design constraints
  • Run chip or block level synthesis, including LEC and low-power signoff.
  • Running static timing analysis and driving the timing closure.
  • Optimizing clock trees and identifying design changes to improve post-CTS results.
  • Developing floorplans, including macro placement, power grid and padring.
  • Physical verification and power-grid signoff, including analogue mixed-signal designs.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Proven ability to work as part of a larger team and meet project milestones
  • Proficient in scripting languages (e.g. Perl, Python, TCL) and Linux shell usage
  • Previous exposure to commercial EDA tools from multiple vendors
  • Great attention to detail, strong communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of RTL design, FPGA development or digital verification
  • Knowledge of Design for Test (Scan test, mbist)
  • Lead design reviews and signoff checklists
  • Identify areas for flow and process improvements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required: Bachelor or Master's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science or closely related field

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 6+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 5+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.
