Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Recognised Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Member of Health Professions Council

Desirable criteria

  • Further relevant study
  • Completion of advanced course in specialist field

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Working with adults with a broad range of disorders including respiratory, voice, swallowing and airway problems, in an acute / rehabilitation setting
  • Multidisciplinary clinics

Desirable criteria

  • Work with other relevant agencies

Skills

Essential criteria

  • Advanced/Expert knowledge of upper airway dysfunction / respiratory disorders
  • Advanced/Expert knowledge of upper airways dysfunction and complex breathlessness management
  • Highly developed auditory and perceptual skills
  • Ability to manage patients independently
  • Understanding of the roles of other health professionals and working as a multidisciplinary team
  • Analytical, problem-solving abilities
  • Negotiation / Conflict solving Skills
  • Presentation Skills
  • Ability to perform and interpret respiratory challenge laryngeal examinations for inducible laryngeal obstruction

Desirable criteria

  • Research publications
  • Ability to perform and interpret as appropriate respiratory investigations (e.g. Forced Exhaled Nitric Oxide)

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
