We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team at Park House in Bedford.
Park house is a service providing accommodation for 13 adult residents in Bedford. The team at Park House work together to develop person-centred, evidence based rehabilitation care plans that aim to maximise the individual's independence and recovery. The service is all wheelchair accessible and includes a wheelchair accessible lift, training kitchen and garden.
We have a strong focus on therapy, care and quality of life. We offer specialist post acute rehabilitation, as well as management of long term neurological conditions. We're committed to helping every person we support feel safe, happy and empowered - enabling them to live the best life possible.
What you'll be working:
We can be flexible but you will work a total of 30 hours per week. Monday to Friday - days and times can be agreed
What you'll be doing:
The post holder will provide a specialist neurorehabilitation service to clients with acquired brain injury within a multidisciplinary team. This includes providing information and advice to other professionals and carers. The post holder will be expected to participate in the development and monitoring of services in conjunction with the team. This may involve assisting in induction and supervision of unqualified staff, and education of OT and work experience students, when appropriate.
- Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary team colleagues
- Keep up to date with new treatment methods and be actively involved in research projects relating to specialist area
- Provide support and guidance for junior staff and advice with complex cases where necessary assisting in the treatment of such cases
- Evaluate effectiveness of service and carry out audits where required
- Be responsible for department training and contribute to training and development of all staff
- Ensure risk management and safety procedures are in place for the OT Department and adhered to
- Provide highly specialist OT intervention for complex caseload in your specialist area
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with all colleagues, visitors and carers
What you'll have:
- A relevant degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registered with the HCPC
- At least 3 years post graduate experience
- Experience within a Neuro rehabilitation setting would be an advantage
