You will be an experienced Solution Architect with the ability to interpret business functional and non-functional requirements to deliver complex solution designs that can be implemented by the technical teams. You must have the low-level design, business and industry skills that enable you to work collaboratively with the wider technical and business teams to deliver overall solution(s). You will be a team player that provides technical guidance and support to your assigned projects and the wider IT community. You should have the ability to identify potential tasks that can be delegated to the Technical Architects in the team.

You will be responsible for ensuring all solution architectures in your purview are architecturally sound, fit for purpose and technically deliverable within the context of available people, process, and technology.

In this role you will:

  • Be the senior representative of the Solution Architecture practice within a platform/domain(s)/service line(s) to deliver the right solution architecture outcomes taking into account the customer need, and the IT strategy.
  • Cultivate strong working partnerships with key stakeholders, customers and the wider Solution Architecture team.
  • Provide technical leadership to define, document and communicate commercially viable solutions to business opportunities ensuring all business, application, information/data, infrastructure and security considerations are defined in sufficient detail which allows implementation teams to realise the solution.
  • Ensuring all functional and non-functional requirements are met for a particular business challenge or opportunity, and any exceptions are justified, communicated and accepted with all applicable stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Architecture community (Enterprise, Cloud and Security) and other stakeholders (e.g. Data Privacy, Product Owners, relevant Governance bodies, etc) to ensure solutions align with business and technology strategy; or seeking and agreeing (minimal) dispensations to highlight technical debt and/or business/operational risks.
  • Interface with internal and external subject matter experts (SMEs) and application owners across Business lines, Operations, Development teams, Business Change in the designs and migration of IT applications.
  • Ensure quality assurance of solution architecture artifacts and provide technical reviews and coaching of wider Solution Architecture team.
  • Identify any risks or issues and ensure they are managed appropriately.
  • Ensure all possible design tasks are delegated to the other architecture team members and be available to support and guide when needed.

This will be a challenging role that requires excellent planning, design and technical knowledge and experience. You will have excellent design and technical knowledge to asses, plan, design and support migration of a high number of on-premises applications. You will partner with your stakeholders to help get the best cost-effective solutions for the practice and IT.

Essential:

  • Expertise in documenting and implementing complex IT infrastructure systems that meet the business requirements.
  • Experience of analysing and documenting existing on-premise/cloud/external applications and infrastructure (networking, storage, hosting and security elements).
  • Experience in design, documenting and implementing complex integrations and data flows between on-premises, SaaS and cloud services using a range of architectures and tools.
  • Strong systems thinker who uses logic to analyse options, and articulate trade-offs when evaluating the residual risks.
  • Strong knowledge of designing and implementing IT infrastructure technologies such as servers, storage, networking, cloud, and virtualization. You should be able to design, document and implement infrastructure solutions that are scalable, reliable, and secure.
  • You will have strong knowledge and experience in on premise datacentres and cloud computing platforms such as Azure and be able to produce solution designs that are implementable and supportable for the business on cloud platforms with integrating into the wider Deloitte IT estate.
  • You must have experience of implementing COTS packages into controlled environments (on-premise/cloud) additionally using the Azure/AWS products and tools to deliver solutions.
  • You will have a detailed understanding of security principles and best practices and should be able to design and implement secure infrastructure architectures that protect the organization's data and systems such as Authentication, RBAC, usage of service accounts etc.
  • You should have excellent communication skills and be able to effectively communicate and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, key business representatives and deliver technical solutions to Lead Architects and wider IT functions.
  • Knowledge of IT service management frameworks such as ITIL.
  • Architect-Level certifications.
  • You must have the ability to identify and delegate technical deliverables to the Technical and Solution Architecture team(s).
  • You must have the ability mentor and coach the wider Solution and Technical Architecture teams.

Desirables:

  • Microsoft Cloud Certification (Azure Certified Architect)
  • Accreditations in suitable architectural qualification e.g., TOGAF, SABSA, BCS accreditation
  • Familiarity with industry compliance and security standards (e.g., ISO27001, PCI-DSS)
