Why KPMG Law:

- Our clients are some of the world's biggest companies, on projects ranging from Deals, UK and International Business Reorganisations, Financial Services, Disputes; right through to Workforce compliance and transformation and Commercial Technology and Data, as well as Family Office and Private Client matters for our high net worth clients.
KPMG is very different to most law firms, it's very entrepreneurial and a very exciting proposition for the right candidate. It offers new opportunities to differentiate and stand out from the market. We give our lawyers complete permission to think big, open their minds to new ways of working, always asking the question "is there a better way?" to deliver great outcomes for our clients.
The Opportunity
- KPMG Law wishes to hire a Senior Manager - with at least 9 years post qualified experience in the real estate sector ideally working for real estate investment fund clients and owners with repeat activity.
- The KPMG Law UK real estate team started in December 2013 and is now 7 strong including 2 Partners with further growth plans during 2025 already acting on repeat investment, development and asset management mandates for private equity funds and sovereign wealth clients.
- The successful candidates will have experience within corporate and/or transactional Real Estate and may or may not have a portable practice that they will bring with them to KPMG.
- The primary focus of the hires will be meaningful deal experience in this space (KPMG is not looking for real estate tax lawyers as part of these hires).
- Ideally the candidates will be known in the market with good contacts in the target client base.
- As this sector is known to lack diversity, KPMG is dedicated to considering diverse profiles for this role.
- The ideal candidates are likely to come from law firms but candidates from competitor firms or in-house will also be considered.
The Role of a Senior Manager
The successful candidate will be:
- an entrepreneurial self-starter who is excited by the opportunity to provide multi-disciplinary legal services in a different environment and manner while delivering a great service to clients;
- able to understand the legal solution within the wider picture and who is keen to become a more rounded business adviser;
- a driven and proactive team player who enjoys working with people from different backgrounds and disciplines and is keen to assist with the development of junior team members;
- a relationship builder who can spot and develop new opportunities and client relationships both within the KPMG network and externally; and
- a good technical lawyer with a solid knowledge of the relevant legislation and able to work with limited partner or director supervision, driving mandates forward.
The role will involve:
- providing legal advice on a broad range of client solutions spanning some or all of the areas of real estate legal advice referred to above;
- building relationships with other KPMG teams and KPMG clients to develop and provide multi-disciplinary solutions;
- project managing and driving projects to conclusion; and
- training and mentoring more junior team members.
Strong academic, technical, and personal skills are essential.
Why KPMG:
- When combined with KPMG's market leading tax and deal advisory practices in this area, a multi-disciplinary offering combining corporate and real estate lawyers will be compelling to the right candidate.
- This is an opportunity to help continue to build the real estate practice, leveraging off the very strong real estate tax client base.
- KPMG can be flexible on charge out rates as they work a lot on fixed pricing.
- Exposure to a global professional services firm and KPMG's network which covers 81 jurisdictions.
- KPMG is very different to most law firms, it's very entrepreneurial and a very exciting proposition for the right candidate. There are many more ways to differentiate yourself at KPMG and different ways to be perceived as successful.
