To provide legal advice and assistance to all areas of the Pinnacle Pet UK Group.
Ideally we'd like a hybrid position with one day per week in Borehamwood and very occasional work from the Paddington office or a different Group office. However we would accept a fully remote role for a good candidate with a lot of experience.
Key Responsibilities
Documentation/Non-Contentious Work
- Draft, amend, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts including Distribution Agreements, Introducer Agreements, Outsourcing Contracts, IT Contracts and other Supplier Contracts.
- Draft and negotiate bespoke documentation where required for new projects and initiatives;
- Amend and review documentation when required by legislative or regulatory changes.
- To act to deliver good outcomes for retail customers whilst delivering a high standard of customer care and enabling consumers to make effective decisions in their interests
Legal Advice
- Provide comprehensive regulatory and commercial legal advice to the Group in an insurance context.
- Provide general legal advice on specific or strategic projects.
- Deal with routine legal enquiries raised.
- Instruct and manage external solicitors and counsel where applicable, for advice on specific areas or points of law or regulation.
Litigation/Dispute Resolution
- Assist with legal claims brought by/against any Group company
Regulatory Watch
- Participate in departmental Regulatory Watch to ensure the Group complies with all relevant legal and regulatory developments.
Communication
- Use the most appropriate means of communication.
- Explain complex and/or technical information clearly and accurately.
Regulatory
To provide legal support in relation to matters of financial services regulation. In conjunction with the Compliance department to advise on regulatory matters, in an insurance context. This will include advising on consultations, policy statement and guidance.
Successful Candidates Will Have
Essential
- Capable of undertaking a wide and varied caseload.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
- Experience in drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts.
- Ability to advise and engage with all levels of the business including senior management.
- Assertive and robust in giving sound commercial advice and complying with Group procedures.
- Ability to rely on own judgement and make commercial decisions, but also to seek and engage with the rest of the team and external legal advisers where required.
- Adaptable - our Group is going through a significant period of change.
- Self-starter, results driven and able to achieve objectives independently.
- Ability to work under pressure.
Desirable
- In house experience (possibly via secondment) or experience working for a well-regarded firm in private practice .
- Experience of financial services/insurance/regulated environment.
- Experience in advising on data protection issues.
- Experience in reviewing and negotiating IT contracts
- Experience in advising on outsourcing contracts
- Experience in employment law
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Degree
- Qualified solicitor or barrister
- The role will be at a level which would normally be suitable for individuals with a minimum of 2 years' post qualification experience but we would welcome applications from any candidate who can demonstrate the essential skills and necessary competencies.

- Minimum CPD requirement as required by the Law Society;
- Compulsory training modules
- Other ad-hoc training as identified in performance reviews and goal setting.
