We are now seeking a commercially astute Solicitor (5+ years' PQE) to join our Litigation team as part of an established senior solicitor group, working collaboratively to support the Head of Department and help drive performance, quality and continuous improvement across the team.
This role offers genuine opportunity for an experienced litigator or someone ready to step up, to take on greater influence, responsibility and visibility within the department. For the right individual, the role can be adapted and broadened over time.
The Opportunity
This position sits within a collective of Senior Solicitors who operate as the department's leadership layer beneath the Head of Litigation. You will work alongside other experienced litigators, contributing to team management, technical excellence and client delivery, while retaining a strong personal caseload.
The role is ideally suited to a solicitor with strong experience in debt recovery and commercial litigation, who thrives in a fast paced, performance driven environment and enjoys mentoring others, influencing best practice and delivering commercially focused legal solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
You will manage a complex and varied caseload of civil and commercial litigation matters, with a particular focus on debt recovery and contractual disputes. Your responsibilities will include:
• Managing claims across the Small Claims, Fast Track and Multi Track, ensuring full compliance with the Civil Procedure Rules
• Conducting detailed case assessments and advising clients on strategy, risk and likely outcomes
• Handling a broad range of matters, including:
o Complex debt recovery litigation
o Commercial and B2B contractual disputes
o Enforcement proceedings and post judgment recovery strategies
o Rent recovery and statutory based claims
• Drafting high quality legal documentation, including statements of case, applications, witness statements and technical correspondence
• Acting as a senior point of escalation on more complex or high risk matters
• Working collaboratively with other Senior Solicitors to support the Head of Department on workflow, quality standards and team performance
• Identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance efficiency and improve litigation outcomes
• Building strong, trusted client relationships through clear, commercially focused advice and regular communication
• Supervising, mentoring and supporting junior solicitors, paralegals and litigation support staff
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a confident, technically strong litigator who can add value from day one and who is motivated by progression and leadership responsibility. You will demonstrate:
• A minimum of 5 years' PQE with solid experience in civil litigation, ideally in debt recovery or commercial disputes
• Strong working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules, with experience managing cases across all tracks
• The ability to manage a high volume caseload while maintaining excellent standards of quality and attention to detail
• Strong commercial awareness and a pragmatic, solution focused approach to litigation
• Experience of supervising, mentoring or supporting junior team members
• A collaborative, resilient and proactive approach, with confidence to operate as part of a senior leadership layer within the team

Working Arrangements & Salary
• Full time, office based role in Leeds
• 35 hours per week (typically 9:00am - 4:30pm, with flexibility considered)
• Salary from £55,000+, dependent on experience and expertise
• Annual salary reviews and clearly defined progression pathways
