Senior Software Engineer (Full-Stack)

Join EDF as a Senior Software Engineer and power the future of energy through innovative tech! We're working on large-scale, customer-facing applications that impact millions of our customers. If you're looking to shape your career while making an impact in a Net Zero future, this is your next big move.

The Opportunity

  • Impactful Projects: You'll build solutions that directly serve millions of customers. Whether you're diving into the EnergyHub (our customer energy analytics platform) or migrating parts of our website to a modern stack, your work will be visible, impactful, and meaningful.
  • Modern Tech Stack: Work hands-on with AWS serverless architecture, Terraform, TypeScript, and React. We use a "you build it, you run it" approach, empowering teams to own the full lifecycle from design to deployment and beyond.
  • Continuous Growth: Develop your skills through AWS certification vouchers, seminars, and reimbursed courses. With time allotted for learning and growth, you'll keep advancing in the latest tech.

What You'll be doing

  • End-to-End Ownership: Lead the charge on software delivery, backlog management, and solution design within agile, DevOps-focused squads.
  • Tech Stack: AWS, Terraform, TypeScript, React, automated testing, and Dynatrace.
  • CI/CD and Testing: We utilize GitHub actions, Terraform, Jest/Vitest, Cypress/Playwright.
  • Mentorship & Collaboration: As a senior engineer, you'll serve as the team's technical expert, fostering a high-performing environment and mentoring junior engineers.

Who you are

  • Experience as a technical leader in agile environments, with strong skills in cloud tech (especially AWS), serverless architecture, and React.
  • Proficiency with automated testing, Infrastructure as Code (especially Terraform), and a commitment to the "you build it, you run it" philosophy.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and mentor team members.

Pay, benefits and culture

We want to provide transparency on the salary range while encouraging applicants with varied levels of experience to apply. The starting range is £72,000, but if your expectations exceed this, we'd still love to hear from you.

Your rewards package includes a market-leading pension scheme, customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, healthcare cash plan, tech vouchers, product discounts, experience days, and more.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone's welcome. We're on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We'd like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We're a disability confident employer and we'll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That's why we support you to pursue a career that's unique to you. Because success is personal.

Our Principal Engineer Steve Bowerman says: "It's an exciting time. We've got a great start-up culture in a larger organisation, with the corporate stability and backing. And that real emphasis on being able to affect change is very important for me."

Ready to make your mark? Apply by 12/02/2025 and be a part of the team shaping the future of energy in the UK.

Success is personal. It's your journey, powered by us. Join us and we'll help Britain achieve Net Zero, together.
