Job Description

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic Operations and Client Services Pillar. As a crucial member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining software to scale our processes and facilitate a seamless onboarding experience for our merchants, whether they're just starting out with us, or a longstanding customer activating additional Checkout.com products.

The ideal candidate is curious, spirited, lives and breathes Agile and the DevOps philosophy, and is passionate about working in a team which focuses on building products to achieve the company's strategic goals.

You'll get to work with teams from across Checkout.com's portfolio of products and services, as well as gain valuable insights from our commercial teams to deliver solutions that add value to them and our merchants.

We're part of an important area within the company - as we often form part of the initial interaction with merchants - and we're looking for individuals who have strong ownership, attention to detail and are comfortable in converting big problems into smaller iterations to constantly deliver value.

Qualifications

About you

  • Solid experience working with C# and .NET (experience with another OO language, like Java, is good too!)
  • Excellent practical knowledge of OOP design patterns and SOLID principles
  • Solid understanding of HTTP and RESTful design
  • Understanding and experience of designing software with a distributed architecture
  • Cloud-based application development experience (we use AWS)
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL
  • Always build applications with a security-first mindset
  • Strong customer focus, you build APIs with UX in mind
  • Experience writing Unit, Integration, and End-to-end tests
  • Experience of working with and maintaining Continuous Integration and Deployment workflows (we use GitHub Actions and Octopus Deploy)
  • Superb communication skills, ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders to identify and refine requirements and specifications for key deliverables
  • Take ownership and drive the delivery of strategic deliverables
  • Create and maintain pipelines to support automated build, tests, and deployments
  • Support the creation and maintenance of technical documentation
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
  • Contribute and adhere to our API coding standards, best practices, and procedures
