Reporting to the Lead Software Engineer, we are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to support our laboratory in Pocklington. This position is based in the UK and working from home but ideally within travelling distance to the Pocklington site near York.

Currently Yara Analytical Services receives over 250,000 soil and leaf samples from over 50 countries worldwide for nutrient analysis. The main objectives of this role are to manage and develop the Analytical Services bespoke "Laboratory Information Management System" or LIMS. The role will also maintain and adjust the Megalab ordering, reporting and interpretation systems. The role will liaise closely with the Megalab team, to ensure developments are aligned with Yara's global digital tools and services.

The LIMS and Megalab systems are being rebuilt by the Megalab-Rebuild team, moving from c# codebase to NestJs. This is a long-term project and this role will be to support and develop the ongoing function of the legacy systems. When new microservices are brought into production, they would be gradually handed over for long term maintenance and improvements to this role, as the rest of the Megalab-Rebuild team develop other services.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate as part of the Rebuild team on the development of Yara's global soil based digital solutions.
  • Maintain the laboratory LIMS to safeguard efficient transfer of data from analytical instrumentation.
  • Gather requirements and add new instruments and processes to the LIMS.
  • Maintain the LIMS functions that cover order receipt, result reporting and invoicing processes.
  • Gather requirements and implement new processes and product offering.
  • Manage guidelines and agronomic interpretation systems.
  • Ensure result file formats are consistent with the requirements of common agricultural software.
  • Develop new certificates of analysis and reports to satisfy changes in market demand.
  • Extract historic results data to support marketing events.

Profile

  • Work with Legacy projects.
  • Built backend and frontend applications using C# .Net, TypeScript, and Angular.
  • Work with databases such as SQLServer, and Postgres.
  • Comfortable working with our tools: GitHub and Jira.
  • Worked on large-scale projects.
  • Align with our principles: agile, customer-centric, scrum, service-oriented architecture, self-organization, transparency, and sustainability.

You ideally should have experience with:

  • Windows forms.
  • NestJs
  • React
  • Javascript
  • Our tools: AWS, GitHub actions, Docker, Kubernetes
  • CI/CD and comfortable with shell scripting
