Senior Software Development Consultant

Reporting to the consulting function, the Senior Software Development Consultant is responsible for designing and developing integration and application software as part of a team and solo. You will work on Responsiv Products as well as client facing developing solutions in collaboration with them.

This is an exciting consulting role that will require you to accommodate the needs of specific customers, including some travel and working to agreed deadlines. Delivery cycles can vary between a few weeks to several months.

We are looking for Senior Consultant who thinks systematically about the impact of their decisions on the wider architecture and has a track record of delivering value in an environment with externally committed deadlines.

• Constant engagement: Engaging with the team to design, develop, and test software solutions and components to agreed timescales and value.
• Leadership: Leading the design, the development and testing of a new software solution.
• Development: Developing best practices across the entire engineering team.
• Participation: Participating in all facets of the software development life cycle (from the initial concept to the final release).
• Creativity: Create technical specifications which clearly communicate design ideas, functionality and optimization.

The role

This is a senior technical role that requires self-motivation, problem solving, time planning, and excellent written and spoken communications, including presentations to senior stakeholders and mixed audiences.

• Technically confident in one or more of these technologies (IBM BAW, IBM ACE/IIB, IBM MQ and IBM API-C)
• Strong knowledge in programming techniques and languages (Java, JavaScript), operating systems (Linux, Windows, Shell scripting), and using tools such as Git, CI/CD, and test tools
• Owns their code from concept to production
• You have operated at senior levels with 3-5 years of experience delivering software to large organisations
• Time management and the ability to solve technical problems is a must.
