  • £38,925 per annum (*pro rata if part time)
  • Up to £4,000 retention payment per annum*
  • An uplift of 3 additional annual leave days*

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Senior Social Workers to be part of the Make a Change (MAC) team.

Your role and responsibilities

  • Work alongside the allocated Social Worker, providing one-to-one direct work to young people who are at risk of exploitation, as well as delivering Child Exploitation sessions to parents/carers.
  • Develop a comprehensive plan of Child Exploitation work with the young person.
  • Attend and contribute to relevant meetings, such as Child Protection conferences, Child in Need, Child in Care, and complex strategy meetings.
  • Actively participate in relevant Child Exploitation training.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to professionals.
  • Deliver informative and engaging Child Exploitation presentations across the county to various professional audiences.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for court proceedings and give evidence when required.

What you will need:

  • a social work qualification at graduate level or equivalent experience in a relevant area of work
  • a minimum of two years relevant post qualifying social work experience
  • Social Work England registration.
  • a willingness and ability to travel extensively, as the team covers the entire county,

The team

The MAC teamoperates and is managed by the Children and Young People's Services (CYP). It offers a countywide service dedicated to supporting children and young people who are at risk or are victims of child exploitation.

The team's scope of work encompasses all areas of child exploitation, including concerns related to child sexual exploitation, criminal and/or sexual gangs and groups, missing episodes, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, radicalization, and modern-day slavery. We act as the central 'intelligence hub' for all aspects of Child Exploitation within the county.

We are represented on the Suffolk Safeguarding Children Board Child Sexual Exploitation Strategic Group and all planning and strategic groups related to the various aspects of child exploitation as identified above.
