Role: Senior Social Worker

The role:

The role of the senior social worker is an integral part of a team and providing critical social work skills and expertise is essential. You will contribute to the provision of high-quality assessments, reviews and support plans for individuals, as well as providing cover in the absence of the team manager. In line with the responsibilities of a senior social worker you will provide supervision and oversight to social care support officers.

This post will require a senior social worker to:

  • Hold a small case load
  • Support and supervise team members (SCSO) as delegated by the team manager
  • Support the team manager in the successful running of the team, including facilitating case progression meetings and well-being meetings in the absence of the team manager
  • Act in a consultative role in relation to complex case work, providing professional advice, support and learning opportunities
  • Contribute to the development of policy, procedural and service development

Essential Qualifications:

Social work degree/ DipSW

Three years post qualifying experience

Registered with Social Work England

You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and you must be insured for business use. However, we may consider you if you cannot drive because of a disability. Applications may also be considered by those whose ability to drive has been directly affected by the pandemic owing to DVLA delays and difficulties sourcing lessons. However, this is dependent on the needs of the service and decisions are at the discretion of the recruiting manager. It will be a requirement that anyone who is successfully appointed and cannot drive will be expected to pass their test and provide a car in connection with their business duties within their 6-month probationary period.

You must be registered (SWE) to be appointed as a Social Worker or have applied to register with the Social Care Council. For Social Worker/Care Manager positions where non social worker qualifications are accepted, registration is not required, and you will be appointed as a Care Manager.
