Job Description

As a Senior Social Media Manager, your role will be to focus on our Running, Boxing & Training categories along with Seasonal Sports. You will be responsible for the smooth, timely, consistent, and on-point messaging for our social channels, ensuring all content priorities are fully supported and amplified, as well as owning social-first activations and extensions across Sports Direct with a focus on creative concepts and forward planning, activating the social strategy.

You will have two direct reports - the Social Media Manager - Running and a Content Creator.

Job Description

  • Work with the team to run the social media channels for Sports Direct UK, as well as managing the community social accounts across Running, Boxing and Training categories, as well as our agency for USC.
  • Executing the strategy and planning, briefing in and scheduling content in line with strategic pillars.
  • Work within our tools to build comprehensive social plans & scheduling that can be shared with wider teams & brands to give visibility on upcoming posts & content.
  • Work with the team to maintain daily activity across all social platforms with a focus on Instagram and TikTok, as well as Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest and LinkedIn.
  • Work with the team in managing an active online community, responding to comments and partaking in discussion around relevant topics as well as developing engaging copy that grabs attention.
  • Daily monitoring of all social media channels including competitors and similar accounts sharing insight & ideas back with the wider team.
  • Finding trends, #hashtags - and general 'hack culture' to ensure as a brand we're responding to and participating in the right discussions.
  • Utilize our huge bank of existing content, whilst also cooking up new and original content ideas, then executing them!
  • Be our brand's social media presence and establish our tone of voice taking direction from our brand positioning and evolution.
  • Link up with our creative and production teams to write social deliverables and briefs to be captured on our photo & video shoots.
  • Attend events and capture content reporting on moments within the community (in some instances you might even need to get in front of the camera so don't be shy).
  • You'll be expected to provide some analytical reporting to creatives and the wider business, demonstrating your skills and expertise within social.
  • Working with the paid media team to execute paid-for campaigns, distributing content across the platforms where the consumer lives.
  • National and International travel as required.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years experience working in a similar role, with experience working in the sports and ideally retail sectors.
  • Team management experience ideal but not essential.
  • Meticulous organization and timekeeping within a fast-paced and energetic team that juggle multiple projects and tasks.
  • Attention to detail from a creative and copywriting point of view.
  • Ability to understand and translate brand direction and purpose into social ideas and content.
  • Ability to identify relevant cultural insights and apply these to your creative thinking.
  • Deep understanding of how people engage with social platforms, and how behaviour is changing. Ability to translate data into insights to inform creative strategy.
  • Great facilitation skills - for workshops and creative sprints.
  • Ability to develop inspirational creative briefs for the creative content team.
  • A love of Sports is a given.
