Job Description

We are seeking a data-driven and customer-focused Mobile App Reliability Engineer to join our mobile app development team. In this pivotal role, you will analyse app performance metrics, user feedback, and App Store reviews to identify areas for improvement and lead initiatives that enhance the app's performance and user experience. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to ensure the app meets performance goals and delivers an exceptional user experience.

As a Senior Mobile App Reliability Engineer, you will be embedded within the app development team, working closely with product, design, and operations teams. Your responsibilities will include ensuring technical solutions align with L&G Retirement Solutions' architectural principles, designs, and both functional and non-functional requirements. Additionally, you will ensure consistent monitoring, logging, and alerting are in place, delivering value to our customers.

What you'll be doing:

  • Harnessing cutting-edge analytics to monitor and optimise key app performance metrics like speed, stability, resource usage, and user engagement, ensuring our app stays ahead of the curve
  • Pioneering the definition and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) and non-functional requirements, driving our app's performance and user experience to new heights
  • Leveraging user feedback and App Store reviews to uncover innovative opportunities for improvement and address user pain points with creative solutions
  • Collaborating with visionary product managers and UX designers to develop and prioritise groundbreaking initiatives that transform user feedback into an exceptional user experience
  • Integrating seamlessly with the development team to embed performance optimisation tasks and user experience enhancements into the software development life cycle, fostering a culture of continuous innovation
  • Conducting forward-thinking user research, surveys, and usability tests to gather deep insights and validate cutting-edge product improvements
  • Analysing the impact of optimisation efforts and provide strategic recommendations for further innovative enhancements

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • In-depth understanding of mobile app performance metrics and user experience best practices, with a proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective work with cross-functional teams and the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills, with the capability to identify patterns and insights from data
  • Experience with user research techniques and usability testing methodologies, such as A/B testing
  • Proficiency in app analytics tools, including Google Analytics, Adobe Experience Platform, or similar
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with cloud platforms and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offerings, preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.
  • Comprehensive understanding of release, integration, and deployment processes, along with awareness of promotion pathways within these processes
  • Expertise in observability principles and practices, including monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting systems to ensure transparency and actionable insights into system performance and health, using tools like Dynatrace and Datadog

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Private medical insurance (permanent employees only)
  • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years' service. There's also the option to buy and sell holiday
  • Competitive family leave
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice
  • There are the many discounts we offer - both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
