NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others.

This work is delivered at NSG's own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles.

The Role

Able to manage your own time, being flexible with your location of work and willing to commute between sites to support the business needs.

Carry out assurance monitoring of NSG and sub-contractor construction activities:

- Ensure that work performed and materials used are in accordance with project plans and specifications.
- Carry out checks and record details of inspections undertaken.
- Review and provide input on NSG and sub-contractor quality documentation.
- Assist projects with setting-out and determining the location of infrastructural installations
- Check sub-contractor setting-out by use of conventional surveying techniques.

Assist with planning, coordination and supervision of on-site activities:

- Interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation etc. and provide guidance
- Assist in resolving unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
- Assist with review of sub-contractor RAMS
- Understand short and medium-term programmes, highlighting programme conflicts and possible sequencing issues.
- Assist in the deconfliction of site activities.
- Monitor site progress
- Provide advice to projects on construction related queries
- Support sites in discharging NSG's Temporary Works process.
- Ensure NSG are fully compliant with our statutory obligations.
- Carry-out ad-hoc site supervision as required by the Operations Manager to cover periods of absence
- Carry out day to day management of the site, including supervision and monitoring of the site labour force and the work of any sub-contractors.

N.B. This is site specific and may not be the case on all projects.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Good standard of education to include English and Maths at GCSE or equivalent- Essential
  • Gold or White CSCS Card- Essential
  • Degree / HNC qualified (or equivalent) in construction related discipline- Essential
  • IOSH Managing Safely in Construction / SMSTS or equivalent - Essential
  • Temporary Works Supervisor- Essential
  • NVQ L4 or equivalent in appropriate discipline- Desirable
  • Temporary Works Coordinator- Desirable
  • Lifting Supervisor- Desirable

Experience & Knowledge

  • Well organised with the ability to work to timescales and demonstrate attention to detail- Essential
  • Experience of managing teams in a construction environment (5 years)- Essential
  • Experience of setting out on construction projects- Essential
  • Sound knowledge of construction methods, health & safety and legal regulations- Essential
  • Confident with challenging poor practice- Essential
  • Knowledge of Engineering in the workplace- Desirable
  • Knowledge of the project lifecycle- Desirable
  • Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information- Desirable
