Our teams are delivering specialist ground engineering works including deep soil mixing, plastic cut-off walls, load transfer platforms, and embankments - all critical enabling works for the main nuclear power station.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Engineer to support the delivery of major construction and civil engineering works.

You will play a key role in defining construction methodologies, coordinating subcontractors and suppliers, monitoring progress, and supporting the successful delivery of works through to completion and handover.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major infrastructure environment and contribute to technically demanding civil engineering projects.

Main Responsibilities

Engineering & Construction Delivery

  • Take responsibility for a section or part of the construction works during the execution phase
  • Define construction methodologies, schedules, technical options, and preparation of project documentation
  • Coordinate construction activities through direct labour and subcontractors through to handover
  • Monitor operations and construction activities to ensure compliance with technical and contractual requirements
  • Review and monitor progress programmes and contribute to schedule updates where required
  • Support risk and opportunity management processes across project activities
  • Prepare information required for progress reporting and budget monitoring
  • Support preparation of comparative summaries for supplier and subcontractor tenders

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all works are delivered in compliance with project quality, environmental, and Health & Safety standards
  • Support site inspections and monitoring of safe working practices across construction activities
  • Assist with management of plant, equipment, and materials across site operations
  • Apply quality assurance procedures and support technical testing requirements
  • Promote sustainability initiatives and contribute to awareness of Sustainable Development policies across site teams

Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate closely with site supervisory teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives
  • Support subcontractor and supplier selection, coordination, and monitoring activities
  • Participate in project reporting and contractual review processes
  • Maintain strong client relationships with responsibility for programme and quality delivery requirements
  • Support effective communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary project teams

Leadership & Commercial Awareness.

  • Set project objectives in collaboration with site management teams across technical, financial, and operational areas
  • Support project profitability through effective planning, coordination, and commercial awareness
  • Provide leadership and coordination across designated sections of works
  • Contribute to decision-making and problem-solving across site operations

Candidate Profile

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working on major civil engineering or construction projects
  • Previous experience operating within live construction site environments
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and site operations
  • Exposure to major infrastructure or heavy civil engineering projects would be advantageous

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of construction delivery, engineering coordination, and site operations
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety, quality assurance, and construction compliance procedures
  • Commercial awareness with understanding of project budgeting and programme management
