Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse
- Mentorship or equivalent
- A&E course or similar
- BSc or MSc level nursing training
Desirable criteria
- ALS
- Leadership qualification
Knowledge / Awareness
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable clinical expertise relevant to ED
- Interest in and commitment to professional development of self and others
- Experience of leading change in clinical environment
- Understanding of HR processes and staff management issues
- Awareness of current health issues and recent ED initiatives
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of nursing issues in relation to finance
Skills / Abilities
Essential criteria
- Able to organise and manage day to day departmental activities and the team within this
- Able to relate and communicate with patients and staff at all levels
- Adapts communication style as appropriate
- Able to lead a team to achieve results
- Understanding of change management issues
- Understanding of clinical risk management issues
- Able to utilise research in clinical practice
- Able to respond to unexpected issues and provide a first line response
- Computer literate (Cerner, MS Office)
- ED take charge experience
