In this exciting role, you'll be at the forefront of Shopify front-end development, shaping high-quality solutions for our clients and leading the way in coding excellence. Reporting directly to our Head of Front-End Development, you'll manage client theme updates, maintain our in-house starter theme, and drive continuous improvement across the board.

Main responsibilities

Shopify Front-End Development

  • Writing, maintaining, and reviewing code to adhere to best practices and deliver scalable Shopify solutions.
  • Supporting the development team with coding, deployment processes, and client theme management tasks.
  • Collaborating with project managers and developers to ensure projects run smoothly, providing technical and strategic input as required.
  • Conducting peer reviews and code reviews to promote continuous improvement and maintain high standards of work.
  • Assisting in the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of the in-house starter theme.
  • Contributing to the implementation of processes that improve team efficiency, productivity, and quality.
  • Working closely with the solutions, design, backend development, QA, and project management teams to ensure cohesive project delivery.
  • Providing technical specifications and documentation to support development projects.
  • Assist with technical audits, discovery sessions, client support, and training to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.

  • Be a key contributor in cross-functional projects and initiatives that improve the business's effectiveness.
  • Share ideas and thoughts on improvements we can make as a function in the business.

Requirements

  • Technical expertise and a deep understanding of the technology challenges encountered by the eCommerce industry.
  • Excellent understanding of Shopify and its ecosystem
  • Extensive experience in Shopify development with proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Liquid templating, and Shopify APIs.
  • Support the Solutions and Sales teams with risk management for projects, able to identify potential risks and solutions.
  • Self motivated to stay up to date with the latest industry trends and best practices within the Shopify environment.
  • Good understanding of popular frameworks such as Tailwind, Bootstrap, Alpine JS, and React JS.
  • Strong understanding of web accessibility.
  • Excellent understanding of website performance and how it can be affected and improved.
  • Good understanding of UX and best practices.
  • Excellent understanding of version control within GitHub.
  • Excellent understanding of project management tools such as Jira and Trello.
  • Excellent understanding of project methodologies.
  • Excellent understanding of automatic testing frameworks such as Ghost Inspector.
  • Excellent understanding of continuous deployment pipelines.

Bonus Skills

  • Knowledge of Hydrogen, Oxygen, NextJS, RemixJS, TypeScript, Chakra UI, and TailwindCSS is a plus.
