Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC Registered Nurse (Adult)
- Recognised contraception//sexual health qualification eg STIF Foundation
- Evidence of recent professional development
- Ability to work under Patient Group Directives (PGDs)
- Recognised mentorship and preceptorship or willingness to undertake.
Desirable criteria
- Relevant BSc or willingness to work towards
- STIF Level 2 Competence
- Letter of Competence in fitting and removing implants
- To hold a non -medical prescriber qualification or be willing to undertake
- FRSH Diploma (DFSRH)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantive experience working within a level 3 sexual health service.
- Experience of health promotion and education
- Evidence of working with staff from different professional disciplines
- Able to utilise evidence in practice.
- Be proficient in the testing, treatment and management of patients with sexually transmitted infections (STI's), screening for HIV and other blood borne viruses and delivering PrEP
- Experience of managing/co-ordinating teamwork
Desirable criteria
- Mentorship experience
- Experience in gynaecology, HIV care, counselling, outreach or other experience relating to the speciality.
- Evidence of practice development
- Evidence of utilising clinical supervision
- Participation in audit/research
- Management training
- Line management experience
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to work under Patient Group Directives (PGDs)
- Able to meet the required IT skills for the post.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and is competent in use of IT/computer literacy skills.
- Competent in microscopy and venepuncture
- Competent in point of care testing for blood borne viruses
Desirable criteria
- Competent in undertaking bi manual/testicular examinations or willing to learn.
- Knowledge of PEPSE, PREP, HIV and related issues
