Job Purpose

As the Senior Mouldshop Setter, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in mould setting and offering support across various shifts. This role requires a strong understanding of setting up the Ares CNC milling machine and Hare Press, as well as serving as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting issues related to the Mouldshop, Ares, and Hare equipment.

You will be responsible for the development and implementation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that drive performance improvement and maintain a safe working environment. Additionally, you will support a "right first time" approach and assist in continuous improvement initiatives, such as cycle time reviews and 5S housekeeping projects.

This role requires the ability to establish and implement best practices across all relevant technical teams, ensuring a consistent and repeatable approach across all shifts. As part of defining best practices, you will be responsible for training and performance monitoring of all setters, providing objective feedback to immediate supervisors.

Lean manufacturing techniques must also be implemented to minimize indirect activities that could

impact production efficiency. A data-driven, analytical approach to problem-solving is essential, using measurable insights to implement immediate corrective actions while also developing long-term countermeasures. Additionally, you will be expected to support, train, coach, and provide final sign-off for new employees and trainees in Tool Hanging, Setting, and other key technical aspects of the Mouldshop.

Key Responsibilities

• Has lead role in setting of all mould machines
• To train, support and mentor new employees/trainees up to an acceptable standard
• Define, implements and trains best practice for Setters, Tool Hangers and other Mouldshop
• members when required
• Maintains / monitors performance of Setters and Tool Hangers
• Tool changes and set, Mould machines, CNC machining centre and Hare Press
• Develops efficient and effective work processes
• Is the SMED champion
• Uses qualifications / knowledge to drive up overall knowledge base of team
• Defines and maintains relevant spares and consumables
• Troubleshoots / problem resolution
• Defines, implements and steers setters to deliver relevant KPIs
• Feedback setter performance to supervisors
• Ensures machines sets delivers parts that meet quality specification for first off approval
• Maintain relevant spares and consumables for Setting Team
• Identifies and implements efficiency and quality improvements
• Defines work area standard and steers team to maintain
• Uses KPI's to manage and improve performance
• Any other task as reasonably required to fulfil the job function and support the aims of the business

Experience/Qualifications

• Logical thinking and the ability to multitask
• 5 years Setter experience in medium / high volume manufacturing
• Mould Technician Qualification (Telford)
• Excellent practical problem-solving skills
• Effective coaching skills
• 5S trained (or strong understanding of)
• Analytical, and data driven
• Dependable and self-managing
• An understanding of technical elements of the role
