About the role:
The purpose of the Senior Scientist role is to support research efforts to meet objectives determined by LifeArc, bringing technical and wider experience of diagnostics projects. Demonstrate knowledge in area of expertise to assist with evaluation, prioritisation and developing the scientific approach of projects in the LifeArc portfolio conducted through external partner
About you:
Ability to conduct independent research and propose solutions to diagnostic challenges, drawing on own experience.
Excellent communicator, with ability to engage with relevant internal and external stakeholders to be well informed and aligned to project objectives.
- Providing support and taking direction from Principal Scientists within the Diagnostics team
- Providing advice and helping support decision making to prioritise the most promising diagnostics projects for funding
- Inputting into project planning from budget, resource and technical perspective, acting as an interface with external project collaborators as required
- Aligning with specific TCs (as required) and building disease area knowledge to enable informed input regarding diagnostics solutions to clinical unmet need
- Evaluating diagnostic technologies and companies, and proposing the most effective solutions for diagnostic projects
- Independently or collaboratively performing analysis of experimental results and develop hypotheses
- Summarising, interpreting and present results of work, (both verbal and written) including interpretation of data and conclusions
- Prioritising own work according to project goals
- Providing concise, well-constructed, informative v reports/presentations when required
- Demonstrating, maintaining and sharing knowledge of current scientific literature and developments in own area of expertise, apply it to the successful conduct of experiments and use it to help colleagues and collaborators
- Working closely with colleagues and providing technical and wider diagnostic insight, as applicable.
Education & experience required:
- PhD in a relevant life sciences subject or BSc/MSc in a relevant life sciences subject with equivalent additional experience
- Technical experience working in a diagnostics discovery and/or development
- Project leadership experience working in diagnostics discovery and/or development, are desirable
