Aon is looking for a Senior Risk & Compliance Business Partner to join our team in London or Leeds. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor and primary contact for all Risk & Compliance affairs for our commercial risks function. This hybrid position offers the flexibility to be based in either our London or Leeds office, with the flexibility to work virtually at home too.

What the day will look like

  • Lead the Risk Capital Business Partner team, maintaining consistent standards of advice, support, and challenge, while providing an escalation point.
  • Develop enduring relationships with key senior leaders within Risk Capital, acting as a trusted advisor. Support senior leaders, as required, with any FCA and/or other regulatory body interactions.
  • Represent Risk & Compliance in Business and key Governance Committees (e.g., Business Unit Executive Committees and/or ERM committees), when required.
  • Provide regulatory/risk/compliance advice to the business on projects, providing tailored solutions to regulatory issues, and coordinate the implementation of regulatory change. Be commercially minded, pragmatic, and practical with a strong ethical compass.
  • Assist in the development of direct reports, regularly assessing and evaluating the skills and development needs of the team, support professional development of colleagues incl. mentoring, coaching etc.
  • Proactively identify efficiencies with activities conducted and/or structure to ensure the Business Partner Team remains at optimal state.
  • Deputise for the Risk Capital - Risk & Compliance Business Partner Director when required.

How this opportunity is different

As a Senior Risk & Compliance Business Partner, you will manage a team of R&C business partners acting in an advisory & oversight capacity, supporting the business areas to deliver Aon wider strategy ensuring the business have the necessarily information and challenge to operate in line with relevant regulatory requirements. The team act as a 'single point of contact' for the allocated business areas for all risk & compliance matters.

This is a senior role within the UK Risk & Compliance Division, with a requirement for the role holder to be able to exert significant influence over the business, the team and wider division, as required. The guiding principle is to deliver a proactive service with Pace whilst building an enduring partnership with your business area(s).

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Demonstrable extensive Risk & Compliance experience within the Insurance Intermediary sector, with direct people leadership experience
  • Extensive experience of the Lloyd's & London Market, MGA & Reinsurance business models.
  • Ability to lead a team with diverse skillsets and capabilities.
  • Confidence and credibility to face off to the organisation's senior management and directors.
  • Dynamic and proactive, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the role
  • Knowledge of regulatory issues facing the intermediary sector.
  • Able to demonstrate commercial awareness, business acumen and strategic planning.
  • Ability to be a team player, collaborating effectively with colleagues both inside Law & Compliance and the wider Aon business units
  • Demonstrate good verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent partner management, relationship building and influencing skills at senior management level.
