The Opportunity
We are seeking a Revenue Controller to join our established Finance team on a permanent basis. This role will be a fundamental part of the team and will play a vital role in the continued success of the business. The role has great scope for development and would suit an individual looking to develop their finance career.
The role would suit an individual who is an experienced Revenue Controller or has relevant experience in a similar role that can build upon and develop in this role. Training on our systems and processes will be provided during a supportive and robust induction process.

Key Responsibilities
General duties include, but are not limited to:
- Action all billing instructions received in required timeframe
- Review Work in Progress (WIP) balances, focusing on aged WIP
- Proactively manage own teams WIP and undertake monthly reviews. Identify aged WIP and ascertain why it is not being billed. Identify write-offs, ensuring that all policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Capture details such as Arrangements (e.g. Fixed Fee, Contingent WIP/ matters or alternative funding arrangements) in line with our Pricing Champion initiatives
- Ensure accurate data capture, reduced income leakage and improved FE engagement
- Management of HR Retainers/Bank of Hours
- Be a focal point within the team for support both in team and to the wider business
- Keep Working Capital Manager appraised of any issues relating to workload of team
- Process Improvements
- Undertake ad hoc responsibilities and projects as required by the Working Capital Manager or Finance Director
- Facilitate requests from fee-earners for information e.g. reporting on fee levels to specific clients over a • period of time, and loss on billing reports
- Establish strong working relationships with all Matter Partners through regular review meetings
- Ensure that focus is maintained on timely billing in order to meet agreed targets and billing timetables.
Requirements
Essential
- Solid, proven experience in a similar role preferably in a legal or professional services
- environment
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of Billing & WIP management essential
- Excellent communication both written and verbal
- Confident individual with a proactive attitude who can deal effectively with partners and discuss their files
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating professionalism in all dealings
- Able to prioritise and multi-task particularly when working to tight deadlines
- A self-starter, able to demonstrate high levels of initiative and motivation, but also work closely with other team members
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft packages Word, Excel and Outlook, and general familiarity with IT systems
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proven ability to provide a customer focused service
- Excellent, proven organisational skills
- Adaptable and able to complete tasks without close supervision
- Able to keep calm under pressure
- Good team player
- The flexibility to work outside normal office hours as may be required from time-to-time
Desirable
- Previous experience working in a law firm would be desirable
