Senior Registration Officer / Senior Deputy Superintendent Registrar - Ref: EE00524

  • Salary: G8 £34,834 - £39,186 per annum
  • Contract: Full-time, permanent

Walsall Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Registration Officer / Senior Deputy Superintendent Registrar. This role is pivotal in delivering both statutory and non-statutory registration services within the Walsall Registration District.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively and flexibly with the Superintendent Registrar and lead officers to ensure high-quality service delivery and development of additional non statutory services
  • Act as Senior Deputy Superintendent Registrar with expertise in all aspects of Registration.
  • Advise, mentor, and develop team members without full line management responsibility.
  • Lead on taking notices of marriage and civil partnership.
  • Maintain and update all Registration systems.
  • Co-ordinate ceremonies for the Walsall Registration Service.
  • Conduct and register marriages and civil partnerships at the Register Office and Approved Premises.
  • Assist in delivering group and private citizenship ceremonies at the Council House and in the Register Office.
  • Handle applications for corrections to birth, death, and marriage registers.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within a registration service.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop staff.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
