About the role

As part of our plan to secure a low-carbon energy future, EDF Energy is leading the way in building a fleet of safe, reliable nuclear power stations in the UK. Sizewell C (SZC) is a proposed new nuclear station that is being developed with a target to start construction at the end of 2023. It is a nationally significant infrastructure project with a very important role in the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy. The project will have a big impact in the drive to reduce carbon emissions in the UK.

The SZC Project Team is a growing, diverse and collaborative organisation committed to engaging stakeholders, obtaining development consent and preparing the project for the start of construction.

The Quality function within the Project Delivery Organisation (PDO) is an integral part of this project, responsible for the Integrated Management System (IMS) and associated regulatory Licence Conditions.

What you'll be doing

A Senior Quantity Surveyor is an experienced QS who has a track record in managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. They seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. Typically, they will be a Chartered Member of the RICS, ICES or CIOB. They will have experience of managing a small team of less experienced commercial staff as well as mentoring others on their journey to becoming professionally qualified

• To manage the preparation and review of Earned Value Management
• Manage the preparation of the monthly operating statement and associated commercial reports
• To be able to report and explain the commercial progress to senior teams
• To manage the feedback of commercial data to Planning, Estimating, Marketing and Sales
• Formulation of management plans for resource procurement
• Understanding of disputes resolution including options, structure as well as knowledge of the SCL
Protocol
• chain management and procurement techniques, estimating and surveying functions
• Management and reporting of Commercial Risk and Opportunity
• Management of disallowed cost

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent
• Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB (or working towards)
