Description
Marlborough Highways has a fantastic opportunity within our Commercial team for a Senior Quantity Surveyor based out of our Greenwich depot. Joining a brilliant team, within a thriving organisation, we are looking for someone with experience in a Senior role who has a strong background in working with NEC/ICC forms of contract.
Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for accurate reporting of commercial results of a portfolio of contracts across all levels of the profitability pillar
• Ability to work under own initiative in taking off quantities and taking and recording On Site Measurements
• Responsible for accurate completion and submission and agreement of final accounts
• Management of all contract commercial reporting and submission to relevant timescales
• Responsible for cost Management of the Contract
• Responsible for maximising revenue entitlement under the contract
• Responsible for managing timely, accurate completion and submission of applications for payment
• Responsible for accurate completion and submission and agreement of final accounts
• Responsibility for clear control of change management
• Responsible for change management trackers
• Responsible for ensuring timely agreement and payment of change to projects
• Responsible for ensurance of compliance of raising of subcontracts prior to commencement
• Responsible for ensuring the measurement and calculation of Subcontract evaluations and production of payment notices and certificates
• Responsibility and control of subcontract assessments and liability trackers
• Responsibility for producing Accurate reporting (CVR / WIP / Forecast / Cashflow)
• Demonstrate competent understanding of the profitability pillar and the Nett / Gross Bid Strategy of Contracts
• Understanding the rules of the contracts that you are working on to ensure commercial protection of the business
• Identifying risk and opportunities within the rules of the contracts
• Preparation of monthly reporting and KPIs.
• Timely resolution and agreement of subcontract final accounts
• Ability to manage more than one contract when and if required.
• Actively identify opportunities to maximise the different levels of the profitability pillar
• Develop strong working relationships with clients
• Leading in management, mentoring and development of commercial administrators, Trainee QS, Assistant QS and QS
• Challenge both Commercial and Operational teams with respect to knowledge of maximising profitability
• Any other duties needed to ensure the full discharge of duties responsibly requested by your line manager
Work in a safe manner, adhering to Marlborough's health and safety regulations and the regulations they are committed to
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
1. Must have a good understanding of the NEC 3 and NEC 4 contracts, particularly option C Target Cost and Option A lump sum with activity schedule.
2. Have an understanding of how programmes are put together and work and ideally able to use Microsoft Project
3. Have experience in putting together quotations and prices in conjunction with the Project Manager and Estimating team
4. Have the flexibility to travel to sites on a daily / weekly basis in and around the London area
5. Have strong client facing and relationship building skills
6. Have experience in a Senior role within the highways, utilities or rail sector
