About the role
Are you a seasoned Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to take on a career-defining challenge in one of the UK's most breathtaking locations? Join Balfour Beatty's Power T&D team on the Isle of Skye, where we're delivering the Skye 132kV Reinforcement Project; a nationally significant infrastructure upgrade that will connect the Western Isles to mainland Scotland and support the UK's clean energy transition.
Working Model: Hybrid; you can base yourself from Maxim Park in Glasgow, but regular travel to the site in Fort William will be required.
Flexibility: We welcome both full-time and part-time applications. We understand that the best people aren't always available full-time and are happy to explore flexible working arrangements.
Role Purpose:
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial management of complex civil engineering works, ensuring value for money and compliance with NEC contracts. You'll also support the development of junior staff and contribute to the long-term success of the project and team.
What you'll be doing
- Prepare activity and resource schedules; analyse tender documents.
- Review and negotiate with third parties.
- Monitor subcontractor activities and manage commercial documentation (CEN, EWN, GC under NEC contracts).
- Analyse commercial progress and report to senior project staff.
- Prepare procurement strategies and internal financial reports.
- Support recruitment and development of junior team members.
- Maintain commercial registers and ensure compliance with reporting standards.
Who we're looking for
- BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
- Chartered or working towards membership of RICS, ICES, or CIOB.
- Strong commercial acumen and NEC contract administration experience.
- Proven ability to manage and mentor a team.
Desirable Attributes
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong customer and business awareness.
- Ability to identify risks, opportunities, and deliver results.
- Experience in constructability analysis and programme management.
