About the role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team on the delivery of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the region's most high-profile and meaningful healthcare developments, ensuring world-class facilities for patients and staff.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all aspects cost control and commercial management on this complex project. You'll be deeply involved from preconstruction through delivery, with a strong focus on subcontractor procurement, contract management and cost forecasting.
Your expertise will ensure financial rigour, commercial efficiency, and value for money throughout the project lifecycle.
What you'll be doing
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:
- Lead cost planning and management during the preconstruction phase, providing accurate estimates and cost advice.
- Oversee the procurement, negotiation, and management of subcontract packages.
- Manage contracts, valuations, variations, and change control processes.
- Produce accurate monthly cost reports, forecasts, and risk assessments.
- Work closely with project managers, design managers, and stakeholders to maintain cost certainty and support decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with contractual and commercial obligations at all times.
- Mentor junior surveyors and support knowledge sharing within the team.
Who we're looking for
You will have:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor (Senior QS level preferred) within the construction sector.
- Strong preconstruction and subcontractor management background.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate cost planning, forecasting, and reporting on complex projects.
- Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with subcontractors and stakeholders
