The TRU West Alliance is delivering a key part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), a multi-billion pound investment programme that will increase capacity and provide space for millions more passengers in the north every year. The TRU West Alliance is responsible for this transformation between Leeds and Manchester Victoria.

Your mission

Key Tasks;

  • Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policy.
  • Fully understand and participate in the "Your Safety is My Safety" declared vision.
  • Manage, supervise and mentor your "reports" within the commercial structure.
  • Carrying out staff performance and development reviews and assist in the operation of the commercial training programme
  • Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract vetting and input to subcontract documents.
  • Commercial management of subcontractors including processing payments, obtaining final account agreements, and resolving issues by negotiation.
  • Monitor the timely production of cost performance data.
  • Produce and present monthly / quarterly cost reports.
  • Be responsible for the timely production of applications for payments in accordance with the provisions of the contract.
  • Attend and provide input to site commercial meetings.
  • Provide input and support for the production of financial assessments of insurance claims

Who are we looking for?

The following are mandatory requirements:

  • To be a Member of CICES or RICS
  • Successful experience at Senior Quantity Surveyor level
  • Demonstrable ability to mentor and coach colleagues
  • Be committed to promoting equality and diversity

The following are desirable requirements:

  • Evidence of involvement in and understanding of construction law and contractual terms in standard contract forms
  • Track record of managing multiple suppliers.
  • Proven ability to maintain and enhance client relationships.
  • Experience in rail, alongside working with in alliance or joint ventures.
  • Experience of ICC / NEC forms of contract .
  • Experience of large engineering civil structure
  • Understanding of construction law and contractual terms in standard contract forms
