Competitive Salary (£42,000 to £58,000 FTE dependent on experience)
Hybrid Role - home working with minimum 2 set office days in Leeds

We are seeking a Lead QA Engineer to establish and lead our quality assurance function across both our website and app development teams.
As this is the first QA role within the business, you will have the opportunity to shape our testing strategy, define best practices, and embed a culture of quality throughout our development lifecycle.
You'll work closely with developers, designers and stake holders to ensure our products meet the highest standards of reliability, performance, and user experience.

Requirements
We are seeking a Lead QA Engineer to establish and lead our quality assurance function across both our website and app development teams.

You'll work closely with developers, designers and stake holders to ensure our products meet the highest standards of reliability, performance, and user experience.
Key accountabilities of the role:
- Define, implement, and continuously improve the company's QA processes for both web and app development.
- Design and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for new and existing features.
- Conduct manual and automated regression testing to identify issues before release and prevent the introduction of new bugs.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate testing into the CI/CD pipeline.
- Manage and prioritise testing across multiple projects, ensuring release readiness.
- Provide leadership and mentorship on QA best practices to developers and stakeholders.
- Create clear documentation for test processes, results, and issue tracking.
- Advocate for quality and user experience throughout the software development lifecycle.

Person Specification - Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience as a QA Engineer / Senior QA Engineer, ideally in a software product or SaaS environment.
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, testing types (functional, regression, integration, UAT), and best practices.
- Experience testing web applications and mobile apps (iOS and Android).
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as Cypress, Selenium, Playwright, or similar.
- Knowledge of API testing tools (e.g. Postman).
- Experience with bug tracking systems (Jira) and test management tools.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating test automation within them.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Desirable:
- Experience in a lead QA or QA setup role within a growing organisation.
- Familiarity with AWS, Symfony, or React/TypeScript environments.
- Knowledge of performance and security testing tools.
- Exposure to mobile testing frameworks (Detox).
