Role Description:

Are you an experienced and enthusiastic clinical psychologist looking for flexible working whilst still receiving outstanding development? We are seeking to recruit a practitioner psychologist to join our small, friendly and highly valued paediatric psychology team.

  • This post has a key focus is on setting up and developing a newly funded role supporting families and staff within the BNHH neonatal unit. The remaining sessions give the opportunity to build and develop skills across a broad range of referrals to paediatric psychology.
  • We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible individual who is interested in developing effective, innovative, efficient services with good quality outcomes for children, young people and their families living with chronic health conditions, to improve their quality of life and well-being.
  • This is a permanent 22.5 hours per week, part-time band 8a position based at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester. This is a split post, based two days per week at BNHH and one day per week at RHCH.

Main duties of the job

  • Setting up and developing a new neonatal psychology service at BNHH.
  • The successful candidate will provide evidence-based psychological interventions to children and young people referred with a broad range of physical health conditions including; cystic fibrosis, respiratory conditions, cardiac, epilepsy, oncology, allergies, chronic pain, and persistent physical symptom presentations.
  • We provide outpatient assessment and therapy and some inpatient input.

  • You will be well supported by MDT-colleagues, psychology team members and receive regular clinical supervision from a principal psychologist and speciality support from within the Thames Valley and Wessex Neonatal Regional Network

  • We have good links with the D. Clin course at the University of Southampton, whose trainees come on placement with us.

Essential

  • 1.Certificated qualification- Attained doctorate (or equivalent) in clinical or counselling psychology

Desirable

  • Post-qualified CPD in at least one area of specialist therapy or specialist assessments

Experience

  • 2.Clinical experience in working with children e. g. in paediatrics/child health/CAMHS

Desirable

  • Leading on some aspect of service delivery or service development

Knowledge and Skills

  • Formal training in supervising others
