Leasehold Services, trading under the name Zero Down Lease, is a specialist firm focused on residential leasehold issues. Established in 2022 by two experienced entrepreneurs we have built a profitable, growing business with stellar customer feedback. Our current focus is on residential lease extensions which we are reinventing from the ground up with the latest cutting-edge technology such as AI.

This is a very exciting time for us as the leasehold market is set to undergo huge reforms, which we see as a great opportunity to take our proposition to the next level. Both in preparation for this, and due to the ongoing growth of our business, we are now seeking a highly motivated and experienced solicitor to join our team.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced solicitor to own our client case management. This includes (1) leading the day-to-day client work, (2) working closely with external solicitors who advise our clients on restricted legal matters and (3) developing the business alongside the co-founders and other senior team members.

This role is remote friendly. Some of our team come to our Central London office most days, others once per month and you can choose what works best for you (with the expectation of at least one day per month in the office).

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day client case work: Manage our clients' lease extensions, working closely with our in-house valuers as well as external solicitors and other partners. A key focus of our business is to provide outstanding customer service - as reflected in our strong customer reviews - and you will be at the heart of delivering this
• Stakeholder engagement: Act as a key point of escalation for negotiating and exchanging information with third parties such as solicitors, surveyors, and landlords.
• Develop our legal know-how: Further develop our legal lease extension know-how as well as knowledge in the next areas the business will develop into.
• Team management and development: Manage and mentor the in-house case management team as it grows, fostering a collaborative, customer-centric culture.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with the senior team to ensure that our case management integrates seamlessly with overall business goals.
• Process and technology enhancement: Proactive look for ways to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the work we do.
• Legal risk management: Identify potential risks and provide solutions to mitigate these risks, ensuring compliance across all aspects of the business.

Requirements

Ideal candidate

• At least 5 years PQE as a practising solicitor
• Experience in residential property law (England and Wales)
• Strong focus on client service, helping customers with enthusiasm
• Proactive, pragmatic problem solver who takes responsibility when issues arise
• Strong attention to detail in order to ensure procedures are followed correctly
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage casework amongst the team
• Excellent spoken and written English

Preferred (but not required)

• Systematic thinker who can think how to scale our capacity 100x
• Technical savvy or comfortable with rapidly changing technologies
• Management experience of fee-earning solicitors
• Landlord/tenant/leasehold enfranchisement specific experience
• Experience in a startup or other fast-paced environment
