Reporting To: EMEA Projects Director

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager specialising in structured cabling to lead the delivery of complex, multi-site infrastructure projects across the UK & EMEA region.

This is a senior leadership role that combines project delivery, strategic business development, account management, and team leadership.

In addition to full lifecycle project ownership, the successful candidate will take overall responsibility for key client accounts, including the management and growth of support and maintenance contracts for network cabling infrastructure within data centre environments.

The role includes direct line management responsibility for engineers delivering maintenance services, as well as mentoring and managing a Junior Project Manager supporting project delivery activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership, Account Management & Team Management

  • Act as the primary senior contact for key strategic clients across EMEA.
  • Take full ownership of client account performance, including revenue growth, service delivery, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage and develop long-term support & maintenance contracts for structured cabling infrastructure, particularly within data centre environments.
  • Ensure delivery of SLA/KPI-driven services, including incident response, moves/adds/changes (MACs), and lifecycle upgrades.
  • Lead regular client governance meetings, service reviews, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • Support contract negotiations, renewals, and commercial agreements.

Team Leadership & Line Management

  • Provide direct line management to engineers delivering maintenance and support services on key client accounts.
  • Oversee day-to-day performance, workload planning, and development of engineering resources.
  • Manage and mentor Junior Project Manager's / Project Supervisor's, supporting their development in project delivery, commercial awareness, and client engagement.
  • Conduct performance reviews, set objectives, and support career development plans.
  • Ensure appropriate resourcing across both project delivery and maintenance activities.
  • Foster a high-performance, safety-first, and client-focused team culture.

Business Development

  • Lead business development initiatives across existing and new clients within enterprise, data centre, education, healthcare, and public sectors.
  • Drive pipeline growth aligned with regional and organisational strategy.
  • Identify and convert high-value opportunities into secured projects and long-term contracts.
  • Support and coach junior team members in client engagement and opportunity development.
  • Represent the organisation at industry events and client engagements.

Solution Design & Bid Leadership

  • Provide senior oversight and direction for technical solution design across structured cabling projects.
  • Review and approve complex designs, cost models, and bid submissions.
  • Lead strategic bids and high-value tenders, ensuring competitive and compliant proposals.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards including:
  • BSI standards (e.g., BS EN 50173, BS 6701)
  • ISO frameworks (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
  • Support commercial negotiations and client presentations.

Project & Programme Delivery

  • Provide senior leadership across multiple concurrent projects and programmes.
  • Oversee project managers and delivery teams to ensure consistent, high-quality execution.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered Safely, On time, Within budget and In line with contractual and technical requirements
  • Manage complex, high-risk, or high-value projects directly where required.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery methodologies and standards.
  • Ensure robust handover into support/maintenance phases where applicable.

Support & Maintenance Operations

  • Oversee delivery of structured cabling support services within live data centre and critical environments.
  • Ensure effective resource planning and service responsiveness for maintenance contracts.
  • Implement and monitor preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, asset tracking, and change management processes.
  • Drive service excellence and continuous improvement across support operations.

QHSE Leadership

  • Champion a culture of safety and compliance across all projects and service activities.
  • Ensure adherence to:
  • Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
  • CDM Regulations 2015
  • Provide oversight of RAMS, audits, and compliance processes.
  • Lead incident investigations and ensure lessons learned are implemented.
  • Ensure all activities meet internal and external audit standards.

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Hold full P&L responsibility across projects and managed accounts.
  • Manage revenue forecasting, budgeting, and margin performance.
  • Oversee commercial governance including:
  • Contract compliance
  • Variations and change control
  • Risk and opportunity management
  • Drive profitability across both project and service delivery streams.
  • Lead final account negotiations and ensure effective cash flow management.

Pre-Requisites & Experience

  • Minimum 12 years' experience within the structured cabling industry.
  • Proven experience in a senior project or programme management role.
  • Demonstrable experience managing large-scale, multi-site data centre projects.
  • Proven experience in line management and team leadership, including engineers and junior project staff.
  • Strong background in account management and service delivery contracts.
  • Extensive knowledge of copper, fibre, containment, and data centre environments.
  • CTPM (Certified Telecommunications Project Manager) or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of EMEA cabling, construction, and data centre standards.
  • Proven commercial and financial management expertise.

Desirable Qualifications & Certifications

  • PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent (advanced level preferred)
  • SMSTS
  • CSCS (Manager level)
  • Manufacturer accreditations (e.g., Panduit, CommScope, Corning, Leviton)
  • Knowledge of TIA/EIA and ISO/IEC structured cabling standards
  • ITIL (desirable for service/maintenance contract management)
  • First Aid at Work
