Senior Project Manager (Maternity Cover, 12-month FTC)

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

About the role

Kinneir Dufort (KD) is a world-class user-centred innovation and product development consultancy, creating products and experiences for our clients in the medical, consumer and industrial sectors. We aim to design a better world, achieving positive outcomes for the people we are designing for and generating value for our clients. KD is a part of the SteriPack group, which has global manufacturing facilities in Europe, US and Asia as well as Design and Development capabilities in Bristol, UK (where this role will be based) and New Jersey & Colorado in the US.

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to initially join the team for a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. Our project managers keep things running smoothly; working alongside their project teams to keep our clients informed and happy. You will play an important part in guiding and supporting them, as well as in leading on your own projects. We're not looking for someone who can simply following a project management process (although that's important!). We want someone who has consultancy experience, or who is comfortable working concurrently on a variety of projects, with different timescales.

About you

Your experience may span across medical device development, design consultancy experience, or device development projects in a regulated industry. You will be used to working with clients to ensure that their needs are defined and that they understand where their project is at every step of the way. You'll be a natural collaborator, with a disciplined approach, who is able to focus on prioritisation and consistently deliver outstanding work.

You'll have a clear understanding of the commercial aspects of delivering a project, understanding the impact for our clients and for KD. You may also have experience of coaching or mentoring others, but this isn't essential. Ultimately you'll be able to lead on projects, but with an approach that inspires trust and excitement in our team and in our clients.

Your skills and experience

Whilst you do not need to meet all of these points, please ensure you meet the majority of them before making an application:

  • Consultancy experience, project managing multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Either experience managing medical device development projects; Or product development in regulated markets. (At least one of these is a must!)
  • A calm, level-headed approach to managing multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
  • A people person with experience implementing various project management approaches; including mentoring and directing other team members.
  • Experience in working to specific standards e.g. ISO9001 & ISO13485.
  • Strong client relationships; results-based ethos; continuous professional development.
  • Strong commercial understanding from a company and client perspective.
  • Coaching or mentoring of project managers.

For this role, we are considering a salary between £55,000 to £65,000, commensurate with the successful individual's experience. As part of your application we will ask you to state your desired salary. If you would like to discuss your salary expectations in more detail, please reach out.

About us

Founded in 1977 by Ross Kinneir and Francis Dufort, the KD team are based in an iconic building in the vibrant city of Bristol. The characterful Grade 2 listed stone building was originally built as a sugar refinery around 1850. It's now completely refitted, and houses all of our staff plus our workshops, labs, the design studio, an HF usability suite, as well as client meeting spaces. We are in a great central location: the local area is full of independent shops and it is only a short walk up to Park Street, or over to the Harbourside and St Nick's Markets, both of which have regular street food markets.

Our values underpin everything we do.

  • See possibility: we explore the potential in everyone & everything and embrace change to create opportunities.
  • Make a difference: we want to part of the solution and have courage to act, even when it isn't easy.
  • Stand together: we collaborate seamlessly, value difference and support each other.

We believe strongly in equality and fairness and try hard to do the right thing; we speak up for and support groups who are working to make a difference. Many of our team are also involved in, or run, events in their local communities, making a difference to those around them.

The team at KD are intelligent, hard-working, fun and collaborate brilliantly together to produce creative solutions. We work with some of the biggest, best and most interesting international clients that you'll find anywhere. We're a multi-disciplinary team, with experts in research, innovation, human factors, digital UX, 2D and 3D product & packaging design, engineering, prototyping, and electronics & software, all uniquely integrated within one great company.

Do we sound like a good match for you?

We look forward to hearing from you!

At KD we consciously embrace diversity and proactively encourage this with our recruitment process. We welcome applications to this position from anyone meeting the skills criteria, from any background.
