Senior Project Manager
This client is only ten years old, but has exceeded all growth targets, by delivering increased flexibility for the UK electricity system and accelerating the transition to a low carbon economy. Uniquely positioned, they are a fully integrated developer, owner and operator of a flexible infrastructure portfolio, which includes energy storage and high efficiency gas reciprocating engines.
All of their projects are developed in-house, managed through their construction and on to operation, where they are overseen by a dedicated asset management team which includes its own industry leading technical expertise.
The portfolio of assets under management continues to scale, they now provide multiple services to National Grid, Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), as well as those operating in the wholesale energy markets.
Purpose
Management of nominated projects within the portfolio of programmes.
Key responsibilities are:
- Responsible for attending and leading site meetings, delivering timely and accurate communications.
- Monitor progress against the Project programme on a regular basis & with short-term & look ahead programs.
- Manage QA documentation & check for compliance against the Project procedures, specification & design.
- Ensure that all project safety requirements are met and adhered to & instigate improvements.
- To be the point of contact for subcontractor site management and be involved with the subcontractor selection, procurement and design process.
- To keep accurate records, daily diaries, progress schedules of sub-contractor activities
- Ensure site instructions are issued to maintain progress of the works & co-ordinated with the Commercial department.
- Monitor & record resource levels on a daily / weekly basis & relate to performance and outputs.
- To ensure that company procedures are complied with and that relevant information is communicated with the project staff
- To develop good relationships with the relevant sub-contractors and maximise efficiency in delivery.
- To develop robust sub-contracts, utilising in house resource - from all departments
- To develop detailed package commissioning plans
- To assist and guide the dedicated Project Management Team as required.
- To develop and maintain sector wide technical documents.
- To assist and guide the dedicated Design and Project Engineers
- Lead by example setting the required standards of behaviour and conduct for the project.
- Communicate the project strategy with the project team ensuring the objectives are understood and met.
- To promote and develop a system of continuous improvement for the nominated Work Package
- To liaise with the other Projects Managers in order to manage technical, programme and commissioning interfaces.
Essential Experience
- A confident, dynamic team player with strong relationship and collaboration skills capable of delivering solution focused results.
- Demonstrable organisational abilities with accurate and organised methods of working.
- Contract negotiation / problem solving experience on high value complex projects.
- IT literate with high level abilities in mainstream software such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Driven to deliver quality results, under pressure, on their own initiative and a proactive "can-do" attitude.
- Confident individual with the ability to manage multiple projects within very tight deadlines, give direction and organise workload for themselves and others.
- Problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills - able to deal with colleagues and external contacts visitors and Clients in a confident and professional manner
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office software suites (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Qualifications
- Degree or HND supported by an additional certification (APM etc)
