Our client is a UK subsidiary of a global financial house working in multiple markets and asset classes.
The role will report into the Programme Lead for Markets and Securities Operations Operations within the Change function in Operations.
The Change Team within Operations manages projects from the initiation stage through to implementation and this role will specifically focus to work in Transaction Banking team and manage the deliveries that they are responsible for mainly in the Bank's Global Channel:
.SEPA Instant Global Channel implementation incl. Verification of Payee;
.UK CoP Strategic implementation in the Global Channel
.Internal + External Comms across all EMEA for SEPA Instant
.EU PSR Regulations
Responsibilities
This role requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in SEPA Instant Payments, cross-border transaction systems, and payment infrastructure within a banking environment. You will be responsible for driving the project from initiation through to completion, ensuring seamless integration with our global payment channels and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Project Leadership:
Lead the end-to-end implementation of the SEPA Instant Global Channel, ensuring project delivery aligns with business goals, regulatory compliance, and technical specifications.
Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, Compliance, Risk, Operations, and external vendors. Serve as the primary point of contact between internal stakeholders and third-party providers (e.g., payment processors, technology vendors).
Planning & Execution:
Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, resource allocation, risk management, and budget. Ensure milestones are met on time and within budget.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure the project complies with SEPA regulations, European Payment Council guidelines, and other relevant legal frameworks.
Technical Oversight:
Work closely with technical teams to ensure the seamless integration of SEPA Instant Payment functionality into existing banking systems and digital channels.
Risk & Issue Management:
Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks. Resolve issues swiftly to maintain project momentum.
Reporting & Documentation:
Provide regular status updates to senior management and stakeholders. Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including requirements, design, testing, and deployment artifacts.
Skills
Must have
MUST HAVE:
At least 8 years of Project Manager experience within the banking or financial services industry and at least 5 years working in payment
Proven track record in implementing SEPA Instant Payment solutions or similar real-time payment systems.
Very strong understanding of cross-border payment processes, ISO 20022 messaging standards, and SWIFT protocols.
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with payment gateways, API integrations, and core banking systems.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to SEPA Instant Payments and global payment compliance.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Nice to have
understanding/ experience of the following payment platforms/ Schemes: SWIFT, MUREX, Smart Stream (Cash Management System and Intraday Liquidity), Gloss
Experience in Banking/ FI in relation to payments standardisation, reconciliations, payments regulation, fraud, anti-money laundering, financial crime systems
Good understanding of the following operational areas: regulatory reporting, derivatives trade support, money market processing, bonds, collateral management, confirmations, credit control, fixed income trade support, loan participation, loan agency and settlements
