About the role

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Electoral Services Manager to manage our small, busy Electoral Services team.

We are a high profile and respected service responsible for delivering all statutory electoral processes including elections, electoral registration and the publication and distribution of the electoral register.

Croydon has the largest population of any London borough with an electorate of over 280,000. Currently Croydon has 3 full parliamentary constituencies and shares one constituency with LB Lambeth. The successful candidate will need to have at least five years previous experience of working in electoral services and managerial experience. The AEA Certificate of Electoral Administration qualification is essential.

Reporting to the Head of Electoral Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and managing all electoral registration activity including the annual canvass. They will also have a central role in the planning and delivery of all elections that take place, being part of the Returning Officer Group that manages the delivery of the election. They will have specific responsibility as the lead on election staff recruitment and training, polling station equipment, and the postal vote opening process.

You must be flexible in your day to day working and be prepared to work extended hours, including weekends, bank holidays and evenings when required, especially at the time of the annual canvass and in the period leading up to elections. Annual leave may be restricted during busy periods.
