Salary: Starting Salary is £44,711 (Level one) rising to £47,754 (Level four) per annum (pro rata for part-time)

About the Role
The role is based in the Corporate Programme Management Office which forms part of the Chief Executives Directorate. The prime function of the role is to manage the Tram Private Finance Initiative contract on behalf of the Authority . The postholder will be responsible for liaising with the tram operator, as well as various directorates within the Authority to provide responses to contract queries as well as responding to planning requests received from developments along the tram route. There may be exciting opportunities to become involved in any future extension to the tram network.
In addition, the successful applicant will be the main contact for appropriate Committee meetings and be responsible for addressing queries from Council Members and the general public on tram related matters.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
Comprehensive knowledge and experience of managing long term complex contracts, preferably private finance initiative contracts, ideally including management of payment mechanisms, performance frameworks and long-term contractor relationships.
• Be highly numerate and literate to produce written reports and interpret statistical data.
• Knowledge of the planning and legislative framework for transportation projects, including light rail.
• Ability to conduct contractual negotiations of a commercial and/or technical nature, and to resolve issues that arise.
• Knowledge and experience of recognised project management methods and techniques in the development of major transport projects.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information orally and in writing in a clear and precise manner.
