We are seeking an accomplished and highly motivated Senior Project and Programme Manager to lead strategic HR projects and programmes. The successful candidate will possess a demonstrable track record of delivering complex change initiatives within highly matrixed organisations. This individual will play a pivotal role in driving HR transformation, championing best practice from project and programme scoping through to successful implementation.

Leveraging strong analytical skills, you will proactively identify and address process gaps, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and optimisation. Building and nurturing strong relationships across HR, Enabling Functions (IT, Risk, Procurement, Finance, etc.), and the wider organisation will be paramount. This role will partner closely with HR leadership to spearhead critical projects, ensuring seamless execution from concept to delivery.

We are looking for a leader with a background in HR, Operations, IT, or a related field, who can demonstrate significant experience in leading project and programme management delivery and implementing sustainable change. Exceptional stakeholder management skills are essential, including the ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes, secure strategic alignment, and drive successful outcomes.

  • Lead diverse projects and programmes, ranging from focused discovery initiatives to large-scale, complex programmes, encompassing data, IT, process, policy, and organisational change.
  • Cultivate and maintain a robust cross-business network of relationships with key stakeholders at all levels, fostering effective communication and collaboration throughout the project and programme lifecycle.
  • Elicit and translate intricate business requirements into clearly defined project scope, measurable outcomes, and quantifiable benefits.
  • Leverage data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making and drive impactful results.
  • Develop compelling business cases for new project initiatives, with a clear emphasis on measurable success criteria, tangible benefits, and desired outcomes.
  • Serve as a champion for HR project, programme, and change delivery best practice and governance, fostering a culture of continuous improvement across HR teams. Utilise and adapt recognised methodologies to effectively deliver projects, tailoring approaches to meet the specific needs of the business.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership to optimise the day-to-day execution of projects and programmes, effectively securing buy-in and sponsorship from key stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate issues, risks, and dependencies across HR projects and programmes, ensuring successful delivery and optimal outcomes for the HR function.
  • Act as a strategic liaison between enabling area stakeholders, such as Transformation, IT, Risk, Finance, and Procurement, ensuring alignment and seamless delivery to a controlled scope throughout the project or programme lifecycle.

This individual will play a pivotal role in driving impactful change across our HR function, leveraging their deep expertise to deliver tangible business benefits in a purely HR or People Technology Project and Programme Leadership capacity.

Essential

  • Strategic Leadership: Demonstrable experience leading large-scale, complex HR transformation programmes within a matrixed, global organisation. This includes a proven track record of successfully delivering strategic change initiatives from conception to completion, consistently exceeding stakeholder expectations.
  • Deep HR and Technology Acumen: A strong understanding of HR functions, processes, and leading technologies (e.g., SAP, SuccessFactors, Avature, PeopleFluent) is essential. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions.
  • Data-Driven Decision Maker: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills are paramount, including the ability to interpret complex data sets, extract actionable insights, and drive strategic decisions.
  • Influential Communicator and Stakeholder Manager: The Senior Manager will be a highly effective communicator with exceptional stakeholder management skills. This includes the ability to influence senior stakeholders, build consensus, and present complex information in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Continuous Improvement Champion: A passion for continuous improvement is essential. The ideal candidate will actively seek opportunities to enhance project delivery, capturing lessons learned and implementing best practices.
  • Complex Project Navigation: The ability to effectively scope and navigate complex projects, distilling them into manageable workstreams and actionable plans, is crucial.
  • HR Transformation Expertise: Significant experience leading and delivering HR transformation initiatives encompassing process optimisation, technology implementation, organisational design, data management, and change management is required.
  • Exceptional Programme Management: The Senior Manager must possess exceptional programme management skills, including the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives concurrently, effectively prioritise resources, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • People Leadership and Collaboration: The ability to inspire, motivate, and lead high-performing teams is essential. The Senior Manager will foster a collaborative and results-oriented environment across project stakeholders.
  • Change Management Expertise: The Senior Manager will be a change champion, adept at developing and implementing comprehensive change management and communication strategies to ensure the smooth and successful adoption of new processes, technologies, and ways of working.
  • Agile and Adaptable Approach: Proven ability to apply a range of project management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid approaches, adapting their style to suit the specific needs of each project.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a large, complex, global organisation is highly desirable.
  • Professional Services Background: Previous experience working within a professional services context or partnership model may be beneficial.
