The School of Global Affairs (SGA) has an exciting opportunity available to join our postgraduate programme administration team as a Senior Programmes Officer. Part of the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy, the SGA offers on-campus and online programmes across a number of departments such as the Departments of Geography, International Development, Global Health & Social Medicine and King's Global Institutes. About the role

We're seeking an experienced, enthusiastic Senior Programmes Officer (SPO) who is passionate about supporting postgraduate cohorts and programmes.

The SPO role provides essential administrative support to students and academics. Working in a fast-paced environment, the role includes taking responsibility to resolve complex queries and issues, supporting activities such as timetabling and the production of handbooks, using databases and Microsoft Excel to maintain accurate student data on progress and achievement, prepare and service Assessment Boards, and delivering a high-quality service across the student lifecycle. Working with colleagues to plan and coordinate a varied set of activities, you will have opportunities to further develop your knowledge of regulations and process and be part of professional networks promoting best practice. As part of the King's community, you'll work alongside inspiring academic staff, administrators and students.

The role will report to the Programmes Manager (PGT) and is based at Bush House on the Strand campus. Professional services staff are currently working on a hybrid basis, meaning that the role holder will spend part of their working week on campus and the remainder working remotely.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Experience of managing and delivering a portfolio of taught provision with demonstratable programme administration experience, preferably gained within a Higher Education context.
  2. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to draft documents and correspondence autonomously, to a broad range of key stakeholders.
  3. Strong numeracy skills and ability to analyse complex numerical data.
  4. Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines with a high level of detail and accuracy.
  5. Familiarity with databases and student records systems (such as SITS) and experience of virtual learning environments (such as Moodle) to a high level.
  6. Understanding of the customer facing environment with knowledge of how to address complaints and service setbacks in a professional and efficient manner.
  7. Ability to work independently, as well as having a collaborative and relationship-oriented approach.

Desirable criteria

  1. Proactive approach to personal and professional development
  2. Experience of working in a hybrid fashion, demonstrating self-motivation and flexibility when working on and off campus.
