The post is part of the FoDOCS Academic Centre team. The Academic Centre team provides support for the student experience in FoDOCS including but not limited to timetables (clinical and non-clinical), exams, assessments and placements (both UK and overseas). The team is based in offices on Floor 18 of the Tower Wing, based in Guy's Hospital, on the College's Guy's campus.
About the role
The Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences is seeking to recruit a Senior Programme Officer who will support the running of our Undergraduate programmes.
The Senior Programme Officer role provides essential administrative support to students and academics. Working in a fast-paced environment, the role includes taking responsibility to resolve complex queries and issues, supporting activities such as timetabling and the production of handbooks, using databases and Microsoft Excel to maintain accurate student data on progress and achievement, and delivering a high-quality service across the student lifecycle. Working with colleagues to plan and coordinate a varied set of activities, you will have opportunities to further develop your knowledge of regulations and process and be part of professional networks promoting best practice. As part of the King's community, you'll work alongside inspiring academic staff, administrators and students.
This is a part time post (0.6 FTE), and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 10 months from start date.
Working Pattern: This post is 21 hours a week that can be spread across 3 to 5 days. Thursdays and Fridays are required while the other day(s) can be agreed upon. Please note this is a hybrid-role and one day per week must be on campus, either a Thursday or a Friday. Discussion regarding this will be held at interview.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Proven experience in programme administration, preferably within a higher education setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft documents and correspond with diverse audiences.
- Strong numeracy skills and the ability to analyse and interpret complex data accurately.
- Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Office Suite and student records systems (e.g., SITS).
- Exceptional organisational and time management abilities, capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure.
- Experience in stakeholder management, demonstrating professionalism in interactions with a broad range of individuals.
- Experience of working in a customer facing environment with a Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and enhancing the student experience
- Ability to work independently with a methodical approach, maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Desirable criteria
- Experience using virtual learning environments (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard).
- Experience of using financial software e.g. Unit4 Business World
