An exciting opportunity for a Senior Programme Manager, operating within the ER team, to drive the overall strategic direction on our ER programmes across the Firm. You will be working in a team with cross-functional ER expertise, that aim to deliver a positive experience to our people throughout all our programmes.

Reporting to the Head of ER, you will be required to influence and work alongside senior leaders across HR and the business, bring innovative ideas to continuously improve ways of working and strengthen the brand of the team. You must have sound business judgment and the ability to think strategically in a fast-paced business. This role has one direct report.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • As the accountable lead for the programme delivery of large scale, strategic and complex programmes within the ER portfolio, ensure that the programmes are delivered in line with business case scope.
  • Lead, support, and hold project team members to account on executing project and programme deliverables.
  • Monitor project and programme progress and evaluate their success to ensure that planned outcomes and associated business benefits have been achieved, and continually seek opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across a matrixed organisation to ensure effective and transparent project and programme governance such as management of project and programme status, SteerCo escalations, risks, issues, dependencies, benefits and key decisions.
  • Produce accurate and timely project and programme reporting as required for key business stakeholders such as HRLT, Monthly and Quarterley Business Review (MBR/QBR) forums .
  • Use project and programme metrics to support risk and issue management and business insights to drive solution development and continuous improvement. .
  • Own the initiation and set up of projects and programmes, ensuring alignment with ER and HR strategy and delivery alignment to HR portfolio governance standards.
  • People Leader responsibilities including coaching, development, and performance management of a programme manager direct report.
  • Working with the Head of ER, own the resource and capacity plan for ER ensuring that resources are deployed efficiently, especially when there is a requirement to scale-up.
  • Working with the Agile Management Office, provide clear direction and act as a role model for project, programme and change management best practice, upskilling and coaching team members in this area to support continuous development.
  • Proactively foster a positive team culture and serve as an advocate for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with the Head of ER to manage the budget for Employee Relations for our programmes.
  • Take ownership of ad-hoc projects that require strategic input.

Key skills and experience required for this role includes:

  • Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to develop strong working relationships and influence at all levels of the Firm.
  • Ability to understand business need and develop clear business requirements and lead a squad to develop tangible solutions to deliver against these.
  • Experience developing and executing innovative organisation change strategies.
  • Experience leading on delivery of large-scale organisation change or transformation programmes.
  • Ability to work across different business areas in a complex matrix environment.
  • Experience of working to and meeting demanding targets and deadlines.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead a team to deliver operational excellence and drive targets resulting in business outcomes, benefits, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a professional and positive attitude, able to instill confidence in others.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness and risk management, and ability to adapt recommendations or advice as appropriate within this context.
  • Ability to dive deep into processes and drive improvements.
  • Understanding of employment policy and legislation.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data and metrics to make critical programme decisions back up recommendations and drive actions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple / competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Professional experience

Essential:

  • Extensive experience of project, programme and change management, delivering on large scale, complex and cross-functional programmes on time and on budget.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain successful relationships with multiple stakeholders at all levels in the hierarchy and including colleagues and peers across the HR function.
  • Experience of monitoring and maintaining project and programme budgets, with ability to forecast costs and adjust as required.
  • An experienced HR professional who has experience of working in a professional services environment or alternatively a fast-paced demanding HR role, with some experience of ER case management and managing end to end organisational change programmes such as restructuring delivery would be beneficial.
  • Strong people leadership skills with the ability to motivate, performance manage and develop direct reports.
  • Experience of leading project teams providing support during all points of the project lifecycle.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and matrixed environment.

Desirable:

  • Strategic thinking and proven ability to apply a broad range of project, programme and change delivery methodologies, waterfall, hybrid and agile.
  • An understanding in the development and implementing of ER policies would beneficial.
  • Experience with HR technology: Specific HR applications, of which SAP and ServiceNow are preferable and used for data analysis, reporting, and managing ER cases.
