What we're looking for

The Senior Programme Manager will take overall responsibility for programme delivery for the Foundation's skills, education and learning-related grants, plus other programmatic areas as required. They will work across Lloyd's Register Foundation to deliver our charitable purpose to enhance safety and advance education. Reporting to the Director of Skills and Education, the Senior Programme Manager will be required to lead the interaction with stakeholders and manage the whole life cycle of grants from inception through to impact capture, working with and across all internal directorates such as the Grants, Communications, Heritage and Evidence and Insight teams.

The role

  • Overall programme management and delivery of large portfolios of the Foundation's charitable activities, including but not limited to the skills and education portfolio.
  • Work both internally and externally to deliver grants and charitable activities that will achieve impact in line with the Foundation's mission.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with a broad range of external, international stakeholders, including grant delivery organisations, industry, NGOs, IGOs, policy-setting bodies and research organisations.
  • Work with partners to lead the application of the Foundation's vision of skills and education in identified areas.
  • Lead the development of proposals with support from the Foundation Directors as and when required.
  • Facilitate the end-to-end process of grant making, from idea to grant closure and impact.
  • Proactively identify opportunities that arise from grant and direct charitable activities and develop partnerships with other funders.
  • Work across the Foundation's teams to deliver expertise and knowledge on funding programmes.
  • Represent the Foundation externally including presenting the Foundation's purpose, strategy, activities and impact.
  • Conduct activities in line with good governance and internal procedures, including where relevant, the management of people and budgets.

What you bring

  • Relevant experience & understanding of global engineering or scientifically technical skills, training and development
  • Experience of skills and education grant and/or project/programme management preferably within a research, charity or innovation environment
  • Strong analytical skills, be highly organised, good attention to detail with excellent time management skills
  • Demonstrable experience of adhering to principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management and administration of programmes and project lifecycles
  • Able to demonstrate experience of &/or training in project, programme or portfolio management
  • Experience of working across international partnerships (desirable)
