We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Senior Programme & Access Manager to join our Rail and Infrastructure team at Ground Control. The key purpose of this role is to manage the Planning function and create a high performing team aligned with the company`s growth and diversification objectives.

This is a brand new senior leadership role and therefore you will be required to review our current ways of working and suggest changes where necessary across our planning and operations teams to improve process, innovate and ensure contractual obligations are met

This is a hybrid role and we can be flexible on location however nationwide travel may be required and therefore you must hold full UK driving licence

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Railway Access Planning and Traffic Management Team.
  • Allocate resources efficiently and ensure team members have defined roles and responsibilities.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.

Access Planning and Traffic Management:

  • Develop, implement comprehensive railway access, and traffic management plans.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to secure necessary access permissions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Mitigate risks associated with railway access and traffic management and develop contingency plans.
  • Optimize traffic flow and minimise disruptions to railway operations during project implementation.

Project Programme Management:

  • Create, monitor, and update project schedules and programmes.
  • Ensure all project timelines are realistic, achievable, and aligned with company goals.
  • Track progress against project milestones and deliverables.
  • Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts and delays promptly.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with all project stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present regular status reports and updates to senior management.
  • Address stakeholder concerns and queries related to project schedules, access planning, and traffic management.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the access planning, traffic management, and scheduling functions.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in railway planning, traffic management, and project management.

The person;

This role is perfect for a current Senior Planning Manager who is looking for a change into a more environmental industry. Ideally you will have worked across the Rail or Highways sector and have excellent knowledge of what is required in these sectors. However, we could consider candidates with a strong planning background across other sectors like Utilities if you are happy to make the move.
