Senior Product Owner

Role Description

We are excited to offer an outstanding opportunity to join our Central Data Office as a 'Master Data Senior Product Owner', a pivotal role within our MDM cross functional long lived product team. You'll be at the forefront of how we manage Party data across all AZC Lines of Business to support BMP Transformation.

This role will be based in our Guildford office in a hybrid working model.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £65,000 per year. Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You

  • You will be leading Party Data Management across AZC, ensuring a single trusted operational view of organisations.
  • Embedding data management principles and supporting MDM operating model.
  • Understanding the technology product/application and developing business knowledge to manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Managing multiple products/applications across customer journeys.
  • Ensuring delivered value aligns with business KPIs and stakeholder responsibilities.
  • Collaborating with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Release Train Engineers to manage cross-team changes.
  • Defining vision, strategy, and roadmap for product areas and setting PI objectives.
  • Acting as customer proxy to define and prioritise backlog stories and epics.
  • Making sprint decisions based on MVP and business benefit.
  • Maintaining backlog accuracy and alignment with initiatives.
  • Influencing team engagement in backlog refinement and user story writing.
  • Confirming definition of "Done" and ensuring SME support during sprints.
  • Signing off sprint development work and providing quick, clear decisions.
  • Escalating blockers and dependencies to maintain delivery momentum.
  • Coaching junior Product Owners and supporting training and knowledge sharing.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrating strong technical understanding of system applications and business processes.
  • Delivering data-driven solutions with a customer-first mindset.
  • Comfortable working in Agile Scrum teams and using collaboration tools.
  • Matching B2B organisation data and applying external data enrichment.
  • Applying foundational data analysis skills (profiling, ETL, SQL, visualisation).
  • Linking technical investment to business value.
  • Bringing a data consultant mindset and problem-solving approach.
  • Joining data and business value across complex landscapes.
  • Communicating effectively and managing stakeholders.
  • Leading teams and reviewing deliverables.
  • Motivating cross-functional teams and making risk-based decisions.
  • Embedding data quality and governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrating passion for data and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with UK B2B data and external enrichment sources.
  • Understanding APIs and DevSecOps.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in insurance or financial services.
  • Previous experience as a Product Owner (preferable), ideally within insurance or financial services.
  • Experience in senior roles within a data function.
  • Passion for data culture and pragmatism in maturing it within large organisations.
