The Opportunity
As a Senior Product Owner, you will partner with the Product Manager to strategize and inform the product roadmap. You will work with the Product Development team to foster collaboration and enable the delivery of work, meeting Gentrack's business goals.
The Specifics
Work closely with the Product Manager and customers to inform the product roadmap
- Facilitate customer conversations to understand key pain points and brainstorm opportunities and solutions with Product Managers
- Participate in research and analysis of market & competition, as well as user behaviour, to inform the product roadmap
- Participate in customer beta program conversations with Product Managers to help analyse and understand customer needs on new products and help strategize roadmaps
- Translate requirements delivered in collaboration with Product Manager and will be able to analyse and break down those requirements into enough detail for the team to create actionable backlog items.
- Understand complex industry requirements and translate them into detailed product requirements
- Write user stories and work with the Product Development team to refine those until they are ready to be worked
- Break down user stories with a clear focus on delivering increments of customer value
- Help team members understand the value a user story will deliver
- Estimate, track, and deliver backlog items to the product, and reporting on progress to the Product Manager.
- Ensure that the product backlog is well maintained and always transparent, up to date and visible to all of Gentrack
- Prioritize the Product Backlog to streamline the delivery of priorities and plan releases
- Take ownership of requirements and direct the team in understanding and committing to them
- Collaborate with the product team (PMs, Engineers, Designers) to help drive product adoption, improve usability and own specific modules in each product/experience
- Participate in solutioning sessions with the Engineers, Designers providing input on business value and expected outcomes
- Attend team meetings and ceremonies and run backlog refinement sessions. Set sprint goals to ensure teams know what they are trying to achieve.
Some important characteristics we are looking for
- Extensive experience working as a Product Owner or Business Analyst
- Utility Industry knowledge is a plus
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of business processes
- Ability to understand and communicate technical and business concepts
- Working Knowledge of Agile practices
- Substantial personal responsibility and autonomy
- Exceptional communication skills, and being a good presenter
- Experience in software development - SQL knowledge would be advantageous
- Excellent communication skills
