Job title: Senior Procurement Engineer – Sensors

Salary: £47,683+ (Depending on skills and experience)
What you’ll be doing:
- Support all sourcing and strategic activities for defined suppliers, including negotiating pricing and contracting terms and conditions to align with business goals
- Collaborate cross-functionally as an integral member of the team, interfacing effectively across the Air business and with other key functions, such as Project Management, Engineering, Commercial, and Finance
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that product or service provisions comply with governance requirements, meet business and customer expectations, and deliver optimum value for money
- Manage and strengthen supplier relationships, acting as the primary interface for all commercial and contractual matters
- Lead and contribute to Senior Business Reviews with suppliers and customers, providing strategic insights and actionable recommendations
- Proactively manage supplier risks and enhance supply chain resilience by implementing robust strategies and monitoring mechanisms
- Undertake regular travel to supplier sites as required, developing strong, hands-on relationships and addressing operational needs
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Proven experience in procurement, demonstrating proficiency in managing sourcing activities, supplier relationships, and purchasing processes with measurable success
- Advanced negotiation skills, with a proven track record in negotiating pricing and contractual terms and conditions effectively
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities, enabling the development of strong, trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficient in IT and toolsets, including ERP systems and Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to compile data, conduct in-depth analyses, and present actionable recommendations through reports and presentations
Desirable:
- Proven experience managing strategic supplier relationships and handling complex development contracts
- Pursuing or possessing professional qualifications, such as MCIPS, or holding a degree in STEM or a business-related discipline (e.g., Economics, Business, Finance)

The Defensive Aids Sub-Systems (DASS) and Electronic Warfare Team:
The DASS and Electronic Warfare team, part of the Sensors Value organisation, manages strategic suppliers to deliver high-value, cost-effective solutions for advanced defence systems.
The team focuses on supplier performance, risk management, and cost reduction, while supporting Life Cycle Management and procurement governance. Working closely with internal stakeholders, they ensure smooth execution of sourcing strategies and resilient supply chains.
